The Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium has a new president and he is the youngest in the history of the Tuscan denomination. Giacomo Bartolommei, 33, oenologist and export manager of Caprili, the family business, was unanimously appointed by the new board of directors for the next three years and succeeds Fabrizio Bindocci, who led the organization in the last two terms. Among the youngest in Italy in this role, the new number one of Brunello di Montalcino will be supported by vice presidents Andrea Cortonesi (Uccelliera, who will lead the Technical Commission), Fabio Ratto (Antinori, Institutional Commission) and Bernardino Sani (Argiano, Promotion Commission).
“I would like to thank the members for the significant trust placed in me and in the newly elected directors,” were Bartolommei’s first words at the helm of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium. “The large percentage of members present at the last elections are a strong message of belonging to the Consortium. The hope, therefore, is that all members rediscover in the Consortium an environment conducive to cohesion and common work for the good and development of the territory”.
“The current economic context requires energetic action in terms of promotion and communication”, concluded Bartolommei, outlining the program of what will be his mandate. “Our priority will be twofold: to enhance the prestige of our wines and to strengthen their perception on the market. At the same time, with unchanged determination, we will continue to protect our brand and our denominations”.

Born in 1991, Giacomo Bartolommei, oenologist and export manager of Caprili, the family business founded in 1965 in the southwest of the municipality of Montalcino, is the new president of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium, the youngest in the history of the Denomination.
After studying Oenology and Viticulture at the Ricasoli Agricultural Technical Institute in Siena, he officially joined Caprili in 2016, the year of his first harvest. In 2018, he graduated in Economics and Business from the University of Siena. In the last three years, Bartolommei has been vice president of the Consortium, alongside Fabrizio Bindocci, who is handing over the baton of leadership of the organization after two terms.
“I leave the new president an economically solid Consortium that, in 2024, recorded a turnover of close to 4.5 million euros, up 4.3% compared to the previous year, and a profit of almost 627 thousand euros allocated to reserves”, said Bindocci.
“I am certain that the new governance will be able to face the challenges on the horizon with determination and vision, continuing to invest in the promotion and positioning of the entire quality pyramid expressed by Montalcino wines, starting with its Brunello, which has increasingly become a territorial brand known throughout the world”.
The Board of Directors of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium also recorded, on the occasion of the election of the new president, the entry into the board of Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini (Casato Prime Donne) following the resignation for personal reasons of Andrea Costanti after the elections of 14 May.
