Concerto Grosso, the flagship Gewürztraminer of Elena Walch, is making its second winery debut. With the 2024 vintage, the label adopts the Tramin-Söll UGA label, reaffirming the winemaking heritage of Tramin and strengthening the deep, identifying bond between this town, the beating heart of South Tyrolean viticulture, and the celebrated aromatic grape variety.

Following the official approval of the Additional Geographical Units in November 2024, the historic town of Tramin has seen the establishment of the Tramin-Söll, Tramin-St. Jakob, Tramin-Plon, and Tramin-Rungg AOCs for the Gewürztraminer grape variety only.
The wines will therefore be able to display the precise area of provenance alongside the Alto Adige DOC designation, offering consumers a clearer understanding of the origin of the labels and increasing the recognition and visibility of products from one of the beating hearts of Alto Adige viticulture.
“Gewürztraminer is one of the oldest varieties in Europe and its historic name is rooted in Tramin, a connection celebrated by figures such as Goethe,” explains Julia Walch. “The new Tramin UGA officially establishes and protects this cultural and viticultural heritage, promoting greater appreciation of the terroir and a clearer quality distinction, even at the international level.”
The driving force behind the successful introduction of these new zones was the Elena Walch winery, which has been committed for years to the creation of the UGAs associated with Tramin. Thanks to its constant pursuit of quality and terroir authenticity, the family-run winery played a key role in the official recognition of the Tramin growing areas as individual additional geographical units associated with Gewürztraminer.
The Concerto Grosso Tramin-Söll 2024 is the first wine from the Alto Adige winery to boast the new zoning: it is grown at 430 meters above sea level, on clayey soil with porphyritic rock substratum, with a southeast exposure. The marked temperature variations between sunny days and cool nights give the wine an intense aromatic profile, great complexity, and extraordinary aging potential.
The Concerto Grosso Gewürztraminer remains etched in the memory. Characterized by a light, inviting golden color, it captivates the nose with a fascinating interplay of aromas: fruity notes of candied orange and citrus blend with hints of honey, cinnamon, and cloves. On the palate, it stands out for its full yet delicate structure, with a long, spicy finish. A true seducer.
