During the DWV Congress, held in Mainz from December 1 to 3, the official announcement was made that the Deutscher Weinbauverband e.V. (DWV) (National Association of German Winegrowers) has joined EFOW.
DWV’s membership will further strengthen the federation’s work in promoting EU policy on Geographical Indication (GI) wines and supporting GI producer groups at both EU and Member State levels. Germany’s long winemaking tradition and the active role of its producer communities will enhance EFOW’s ability to promote and protect origin wines in Europe and in third countries.
Riccardo Ricci Curbastro, President of EFOW, stated:
“DWV’s entry into EFOW represents a significant step for our federation, which has now become a key stakeholder in EU wine policy debates. This is a major boost to our representativeness, enabling us to make the voice of GI wine producers heard and advance our shared quality objectives at the European level.”
Klaus Schneider, President of DWV, added:

DWV’s membership in EFOW confirms the federation’s commitment to a united and effective representation of Geographical Indication wines in Europe.
