First rule: it is forbidden to call it baby Amarone. Then, open the doors and raise your glass to a true classic, which today celebrates the prestigious milestone of its first 30 years. A marriage, that between Valpolicella Classica and one of its most recognized bottled symbols in the world, which celebrates its pearl wedding. We are talking about the Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore signed by Tommasi Viticoltori, a historic Veronese winery that today we find around many wine-producing areas of Italy, from north to south. An internationally recognized icon, with its distinctive blue label, which has conquered markets all over the world and today dresses up, for its 30th anniversary, in a 1.5 lt magnum bottle in a limited edition with a celebratory box with an exclusive design. A special release, inspired by a “journey through time” that celebrates innovation, without losing sight of its historical roots, but above all that marks a revolution: the transition to the 750 ml bottle in lightweight 410 gram glass and a unique design, a choice that projects Ripasso into the future, focusing on sustainability and innovation. For a real “Back to the Classic”, as the claim says.
“Back to the Classic”: 30 years of Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore by Tommasi Viticoltori
A journey between past and future: this is what celebrates the first 30 years of Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore by Tommasi Viticoltori. A wine that has captured the imagination since the beginning, thanks to its iconic blue label, which today around the world is synonymous with a successful production.
It was 1995 when Tommasi chose to produce its first Ripasso. Today, after three decades, it looks back and projects itself into the future: “Back to the Classic”.
The Veronese company does so with a new celebratory label and an exclusive limited edition of 10 thousand Magnum boxes, personalized by the digital artist Andrea Gnesato.
The illustration, a tribute to the famous DeLorean from the film “Back to the Future”, sees a Panda as the symbol of a wine capable of crossing the ages with an ever-present charm.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tommasi Ripasso, a wine that has been able to unite past and future, becoming an icon of our territory,” emphasizes Giancarlo Tommasi, winemaker and technical director. “Our commitment is to ensure that Ripasso continues to stand out nationally and internationally, maintaining a high quality standard.”
Rooted in the origins of Valpolicella, Ripasso was born from a revolutionary intuition: the refermentation of Valpolicella on the pomace of Amarone (originally Recioto), a process that gave life to a wine of extraordinary aromatic richness and structure.
Today, this traditional method is also a symbol of sustainability ante litteram, demonstrating how circular economy and respect for the environment are an integral part of Valpolicella’s winemaking culture.
“Ripasso tells our identity, made of respect for tradition and openness to the future,” concludes Giancarlo Tommasi. “Celebrating the 30th anniversary means honoring a path of excellence that continues to evolve, with a constant commitment to sustainability and innovation”.
Sustainability and innovation: the new lightweight glass bottle
With its 30th anniversary, Tommasi is further raising the bar in its commitment to sustainability. Ripasso will be available in a 410-gram lightweight glass bottle, a choice that, calculator in hand, reduces the environmental impact by 40%, cutting production and transport costs and decreasing CO2 emissions.
A decisive step towards a more sustainable future, without compromising quality and tradition, but making the consumer experience more aware and satisfying.
A timeless wine
The Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore by Tommasi is an intense ruby red with notes of ripe cherry, black pepper and tobacco. On the palate it surprises with its elegance, with soft tannins and a persistence that leaves its mark.
It is a wine that does not follow fashions, but dictates them: versatile, sophisticated, capable of satisfying the most demanding palates and of crossing the ages while maintaining its essence intact.
