Alta Langa and Alba White Truffle: the marriage continues

For the ninth consecutive year, the Alta Langa Consortium is a key sponsor of the Alba International White Truffle Fair, taking place in Alba from October 11th to December 8th.

“Alta Langa DOCG returns to the Alba International White Truffle Fair again this year,” comments Giovanni Minetti, President of the Alta Langa Consortium, “and once again it is a key player, accompanying the Alba White Truffle as the Official Sparkling Wine during the event’s most significant moments. For us producers, this is always a very significant event and a source of great pride for the opportunity it offers us to place our product alongside a gem of Italian gastronomy, renowned at fine dining venues around the world.”

The Alba International White Truffle Fair kicks off on October 11th: the Alta Langa Consortium remains its main sponsor.

The Alba International White Truffle Fair kicks off on October 11th: the Alta Langa Consortium remains its main sponsor.

The Alba White Truffle season officially opens on October 1st, and, as is tradition, on the night of September 30th, Alba celebrates the beginning of the hunt with the Truffle New Year, ushering in a season that is at once agricultural, gastronomic, and spiritual. This symbolic moment of celebration will culminate in Piazza Risorgimento with a toast featuring Alta Langa DOCG.

The Alba International White Truffle Fair will then open its doors to the public on Saturday, October 11th, with entry to the Cortile della Maddalena from Piazzetta Falcone. Alta Langa DOCG wines from Consortium members will be available for tasting in the Grande Enoteca within the World Truffle Market, the heart of the event.

During over 30 cooking shows (held in the Beppe Fenoglio Hall, where renowned chefs prepare their own recipes featuring the Alba White Truffle), Piedmontese sparkling wines are paired with gourmet creations inspired by the expert talents of some of the greatest names in national and international cuisine.

New this year are “Tramonti Gourmet: Aperitivi d’Eccellenza,” which will enrich the program with a new cooking show format: an elegant Italian aperitif combining culinary art with the pleasure of toasting. In an intimate and evocative atmosphere, the guest chef will prepare two small gastronomic creations live, designed to accompany a glass of Alta Langa DOCG and an original cocktail made with Vermouth di Torino PGI mixed with Alta Langa DOCG.

On Sunday, October 12th, at 3:00 PM, the Alta Langa DOCG workshop will be held in the Sala Beppe Fenoglio. Discovering the Highest Piedmontese Sparkling Wines will be a workshop to delve deeper into the Alta Langa DOCG appellation, including its history, terroir, and people, along with four glasses of Piedmontese sparkling wines.

On Sunday, November 16th, again at 3:00 PM, in the Sala Vittorio Riolfo (and again with access from the Cortile della Maddalena), Alta Langa DOCG will be the focus of a Masterclass organized by wine writers Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler of the specialized magazine Falstaff in collaboration with the Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero Tourism Board.

Alte Bollicine Piemontesi will also be offered to guests at “Cene Insolite,” unique occasions where top national and international chefs will meet the Alba White Truffle. Special moments to discover historical and cultural places through a guided tour experience that will conclude with an excellent dinner cooked by prestigious Michelin-starred chefs: this year, Karime Lopez and Takahiko Kondo – Gucci Osteria, Matias Perdomo – Contraste, Gaetano Trovato – Arnolfo Ristorante*, Floriano Pellegrino – Ristorante Bros’ and Luigi Taglienti.
