Alta Langa DOCG: Over 200 Trade Operators for the First Event in the United States

Alta Langa Docg makes its first US appearance at Eataly Downtown NYC, bringing 27 producers and over 200 wine experts

Alta Langa DOCG made its debut in the United States with an event exclusively dedicated to the trade, hosted by Eataly Downtown in New York. Organized by the Consortium, the appointment brought together 27 producers and more than 200 wine professionals and media representatives, marking a crucial stage in building the denomination’s reputation in the U.S. market. Held on 10 March, the event presented Alta Langa DOCG among the emerging players in the category of Italian premium Metodo Classico sparkling wines, a segment that continues to attract growing interest among U.S. wine professionals.

Many of the operators in attendance — sommeliers, wine directors, buyers, importers, distributors and journalists — tasted Alta Langa DOCG labels for the first time, and their participation confirmed the appeal of a sparkling wine capable of expressing its territorial identity in a distinctive way.

Two Panels to Present the Identity of Alta Langa DOCG

The New York day opened with two educational panels titled “Why Alta Langa DOCG Belongs on Your Wine List: Education, Positioning, and Profitability”, led by Juliana Colangelo, an expert in wine marketing. Joining her were Giovanna Bagnasco and Paolo Rossino, respectively council member and head of the Promotion Committee, and director of the Consortium.

The sessions illustrated the production standards of the denomination, its distinctive characteristics, opportunities for positioning in the U.S. HoReCa market, and the history of the territory. From the story of high‑hill vineyards to an explanation of the production approach, the panels offered American professionals a complete overview of what makes Alta Langa DOCG a credible and competitive proposition.

“A Landmark Debut”: Words from the Consortium

“The day marked the debut of Alta Langa DOCG beyond national borders. We chose to host the event in New York because of its status as an iconic city — a symbol and substance of a wine market that has always been highly active and vibrant for Italian producers,” said Giovanni Minetti, President of the Alta Langa Consortium.
“It was a first that allowed us to present our wine to one of the most influential markets in the world and to share the identity and quality that characterize our denomination. The response from the U.S. trade was extremely positive, certainly beyond expectations.”

The evening before the event, the Consortium organized a welcome cocktail at Terroir, an iconic New York wine bar. Intended as an informal preview, the gathering allowed professionals to taste Alta Langa — presented exclusively in Magnum format — and engage directly with producers in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
