Asti Docg: Stefano Ricagno is the new president of the Consortium

Time for a new face at the top of the Asti Docg: Stefano Ricagno is the new president of the Consortium. The appointment took place by the Board. Ricagno takes over from Lorenzo Barbero and will remain in office for the next three years. During the Board of Directors, the vice presidents Bruno Fortunato, Massimo Marasso, Gianfranco Torelli and Paola Zappino were elected, while Barbero was entrusted with the role of senior vice president. The Management Committee of the Canelli Docg was also appointed, composed of Giacomo Scagliola (president), Ernesto Abbona, Gianmario Cerutti, Giorgio Forno and Ignazio Giovine.

“We will work in the interests of the denominations within a framework of unity of intent to consolidate the protection, valorisation and promotion of Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti in Italy and in the world”, stated the new president of Asti Docg Stefano Ricagno. “In the current context of uncertainty, in fact, I am convinced that the synergy between the different associative souls that has always characterized our Denomination will be able to give concrete answers to the challenges of the markets and new consumption”.

Who is Stefano Ricagno, the new president of the Asti Docg Consortium

Stefano Ricagno, sixth generation of winemakers between Langhe and Monferrato, graduated from the Oenology School of Alba and graduated in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Turin.

After obtaining an MBA in Wine business management at the MIB in Trieste, since 2006 he has worked within the family winery and the Vecchia cantina sociale of Alice Bel Colle and Sessame d’Asti. He is Brand Ambassador for the Piedmontese companies (Cuvage and Ricossa) of the Argea group.

Ricagno is also vice-president of Vignaioli Piemontesi and of Piemonte Land of Wine, the body that represents all 14 Piedmontese wine consortia officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture.
