Banfi has reached the tenth edition of its Sustainability Report. An important anniversary, the one established by the 2024 report, to testify the ability of the Tuscan company to translate its values into concrete actions. In fact, Sustainability deals with Respect, one of the founding values of the company, for the environment, people, the community. It is no coincidence that the publication also has taken place on World Earth Day, on April 22nd, to highlight how high Banfi’s attention is to the issues of Sustainability, for the protection of the planet.
What’s new in the 2024 Banfi Sustainability Report
In a global scenario of great conflicts and turbulence of all kinds, for the Montalcino company 2024 was a crucial year, in which corporate governance was redesigned and, consequently, the strategic approach to the markets.
“The guideline that we followed, and that deeply inspired us, was the good and respect that we have for this company, for its people and for the territory that hosts us”: this is what we read in the Letter from the Territory, signed by the presidents of the two companies, Cristina Mariani-May for Banfi Società Agricola Srl and Rodolfo Maralli for Banfi Srl.
Among the main topics addressed in the 2024 report, we highlight the achievement of the ISO 45001 certification (health and safety of workers) for Banfi Società Agricola Srl, as already happened years ago for Banfi Srl. Furthermore, for Banfi Srl and in relation to the Piedmont site, the goal of achieving the Equalitas certification has been reached.
The Strategic Sustainability Plan signed by Banfi, in order to keep it always current and aligned with European requests on sustainability reporting, has been updated in its guidelines and direction, with reference to the current year for the definition of specific targets and KPIs.
The ESG Committee has further strengthened thanks to the contribution of eminent academic figures: Prof. Paolo Pascucci, full professor of Labor Law at the University of Urbino, Prof. Alberto Mattiacci, full professor of Economics and Business Management at Sapienza University of Rome, and Prof. Simone Bastianoni, full professor of Environmental Chemistry and Cultural Heritage at the University of Siena.
This year, it is worth mentioning the Equalitas Product certification for Poggio alle Mura and Vigna Marrucheto 2020, Poggio alle Mura Riserva and Poggio all’Oro 2019, which join Poggio all’Oro 2016, the first Brunello di Montalcino to be able to boast the recognition, and other references.
Banfi’s 2024 Sustainability Report, available for online viewing, as with previous editions, has been subjected to limited assurance according to the ISAE 3000 Revised standard. The review, entrusted to PricewaterhouseCoopers Business Services Srl, a leading company operating in the business consultancy sector, certifies the adherence of the document’s contents to the guidelines adopted for its drafting.
