Bevertech revs up: Milan becomes the new global hub for €68.6‑billion beverage technologies

Bevertech revs up: at Fiera Milano, during Simei, the new €68.6‑billion global hub for beverage technologies is born

The countdown has begun. Five months before its official debut, Bevertech is taking shape and positioning itself as one of the new international reference points for technologies dedicated to the Liquid Food & Beverage world. The event, scheduled from 17 to 20 November at Fiera Milano and held concurrently with Simei, enters a market that in 2025 reached a global value of €68.6 billion and is expected to exceed €76 billion by 2029. Confirming the ambitions of the new exhibition platform are also the numbers of international incoming: around 100 specialized foreign buyers are expected, in addition to the 350 international operators anticipated for Simei.

Bevertech is born: the new hub for Liquid Food & Beverage technologies

The result of a collaboration between Unione Italiana Vini and Ipack Ima, Bevertech was created with the aim of establishing a space entirely dedicated to technologies for production, bottling and packaging within the Liquid Food & Beverage sector.

The first edition will be integrated within the halls of Simei, the biennial international exhibition dedicated to winemaking and bottling machinery, through an exhibition path designed to highlight the sector’s leading operators.

The goal is to connect expertise, innovation and commercial opportunities, giving life to a cross‑sector platform capable of involving the wine, beverage and liquid‑food industries.

100 international buyers and a strong push for incoming

One of the strengths of the new event is its international vocation.

Thanks to the collaboration between Bevertech, Simei and ITA – Italian Trade Agency, around 100 foreign buyers and delegates from key markets of interest will be selected. These will join the 350 buyers already expected within Simei.

Internationalization activities have already begun in the early months of the year with an incoming program dedicated to West Africa, confirming the intention to expand commercial opportunities and foster new relationships between the Italian technology industry and international demand.

A market worth nearly €70 billion

The birth of Bevertech comes at a time of strong expansion for the sector.

According to analyses by the Ipack‑Ima Monitor, in 2025 the global market for Liquid Food & Beverage technologies and machinery reached a total value of €68.6 billion.

Forecasts indicate growth to €76 billion by 2029, with a compound annual rate of 2.6%.

Within the sector, the most significant segment is packaging materials, currently worth €37.3 billion. Bottling and packaging machinery generate a market of €15.2 billion, while processing technologies reach €16.1 billion.

These figures highlight the strategic role of industrial innovation in supporting the competitiveness of the international beverage and liquid‑food supply chain.

Consumption and global demand continue to grow

Parallel to the expansion of technologies, global consumption of beverage products continues to rise.

In 2025, consumption approached 1,100 billion liters, generating an economic value of €1.941 trillion.

Estimates indicate growth to €2.470 trillion over the next four years, with an average annual development rate of 6.2%.

Geographically, China, the United States and India together account for nearly 40% of global consumption. Looking at product categories, soft drinks represent about one‑fifth of the market’s total value, followed by milk at 16.2% and bottled water at 11.3%.

Bevertech: technology, packaging and automation at the core of the project

Bevertech’s formula aims to enhance integration between different industrial segments.

Alongside exhibitors already registered and specialized in bottling and packaging, numerous companies present at Simei will join — those developing technologies applicable to both beverage and liquid‑food sectors.

This approach reflects market evolution, increasingly oriented toward integrated systems combining production, automation, packaging and digitalization.

“The registrations collected in this first phase confirm that the market felt the need for a dedicated and highly specialized event,” comments Valerio Soli, president of Ipack Ima. “Bevertech was created to highlight the growing convergence between processing technologies, packaging, automation and digitalization applied to beverages and liquid food. The response from companies shows that the formula is the right one.”

The Simei effect as a development accelerator

Supporting the growth of the new platform will be its simultaneity with Simei, a well‑established international event for winemaking and bottling technologies.

“The simultaneity with Simei represents a value accelerator,” notes Paolo Castelletti, CEO of Unione Italiana Vini Servizi. “Companies can rely on a unique ecosystem capable of connecting expertise, technologies and operators from complementary sectors. The interest already shown by exhibitors and international buyers confirms the development potential of this new exhibition platform.”

The debut of Bevertech arrives at a moment when global demand for Liquid Food & Beverage technologies continues to grow, driven by evolving consumption patterns, innovation in production processes and the need for increasingly efficient and sustainable systems.

With the support of Unione Italiana Vini, Ipack Ima and ITA, the new event aims to become an international crossroads for producers, technology suppliers and buyers, strengthening Milan’s role as a strategic center for the beverage and liquid‑food industry. A debut that looks beyond the boundaries of wine and aspires to become one of Europe’s leading events for industrial innovation applied to the beverage sector.
