Brunello di Montalcino: Bottling Rebounds and Rosso on the Rise

Brunello di Montalcino closes 2025 with a recovering performance. After challenging months, the bottled output of the prince of Tuscan wines shows a surge in the last two months, realigning with the volumes of the same period in 2024 (-0.9%). October was decisive: over 1.9 million equivalent bottles, up 39% compared to the same month last year. And Rosso di Montalcino is no exception, continuing its upward trend.

Brunello di Montalcino Figures: 2021 Vintage Takes the Spotlight

According to Valoritalia data, in the first 10 months of the year, 7.63 million bottles were filled, compared to 7.69 million in 2024. Driving the trend is the new 2021 vintage, the star of the Montalcino preview and on the market since January, which has already generated over 2.1 million equivalent bottles.

Rosso di Montalcino: Double-Digit Growth

It’s not just Brunello: Rosso di Montalcino continues its run. Following vineyard expansion, bottled output in the first ten months is close to 4 million delivered seals, marking a +29% year-on-year increase. At Benvenuto Brunello, Rosso showcases the 2024 vintage.

Bartolommei at Benvenuto Brunello 2025: New Promotion Plan for 2026

“There is not necessarily an automatic correlation between bottling and product sold,” stated Giacomo Bartolommei, president of the Consortium at Benvenuto Brunello 2025, held from November 20 to 24 in Montalcino, “but the figure is nonetheless an interesting market indicator that brings us back to a stable position after more complicated months. Regardless, the Consortium is convinced of the need to launch a promotional program for the denomination, with collective participation in the main and historic export market—the United States—as well as in other arenas, aiming to diversify business opportunities for our wines as much as possible. The program, scheduled to start in 2026, will be finalized in the coming weeks.”
