Cantine Riunite & Civ confirms itself as the leader of Italian wine: the Group exceeds 700 million euros

The general meeting of the members of Cantine Riunite & Civ took place on 18 December in the setting of the Albinea Canali winery. This year too, the growth trend that has marked recent years is confirmed for the Emilian cooperative, consolidating its leadership in the wine sector in Italy thanks to a corporate turnover of 270 million euros which brings that of the Group to over 700 millions.

The last 12 months of Cantine Riunite & Civ: turnover of 269.4 million euros

The members of Cantine Riunite & Civ approved the financial statements ending on 31 July 2023. In the presence of the president Corrado Casoli, the vice-president Claudio Biondi and the general director Gabriele Lechthaler, the results of the 2022/2023 financial year were presented on Dec. 18th.

In the 12 months, a turnover of 269.4 million euros was recorded, up by more than 3% compared to the previous period, and a net profit of more than 2 million euros.

Very comforting data, considering the global context in which Cantine Riunite & Civ operates, which have made it possible to strengthen the cooperative’s net assets which at the end of the financial year exceeded 200 million euros for the first time.

The members, who contributed over 763 thousand quintals of grapes in the 2022 harvest, were awarded an average distribution price of 41.20 euros per quintal. On the export front, growth in value was around 7% and confirmed the international vocation of Cantine Riunite & Civ, as well as the leadership in some international markets, achieving significant growth in the United Kingdom (+18%) and in Europe (+13%).

In Italy, performances were positive with a growth in value of 3%, despite consumption being more limited and strongly influenced by inflationary pressures, both on the modern channel and in the away from home sector. At a national level, Cantine Riunite & Civ have chosen to continue investing in communication for the Maschio, Riunite and Righi brands, with particular attention being paid to the Cantine Cavicchioli brands.

On the commercial offering front, the product range of Umberto Cavicchioli e Figli, a brand dedicated to the Horeca channel, has been expanded with a new line of sparkling wines and a new line of ancestral methods.

Furthermore, the Albinea Canali winery and Foresteria Cavicchioli were the protagonists of numerous events which had the aim of increasing awareness of the brand and promoting Lambrusco and sparkling wines from Emilia, appreciated for their quality and typicality.

The cooperative is currently engaged in an important investment plan in the production sites in Emilia and Veneto, with the aim of improving the environmental sustainability of its production and strengthening its production capacity: the amount invested in the last two years amounts to over 30 million , of which 15 in this financial year alone.

The financial commitment supported by the cooperative was instrumental in strengthening its leadership in Emilian sparkling wines, such as Lambrusco and Pignoletto, as well as in Prosecco, to the benefit of the 1,450 member producers and grape suppliers.

Still in the field of sustainability, the cooperative has started a certification process involving approximately 1200 hectares, Sqnpi certified (National Integrated Production Quality System), which aims to enhance agricultural production while ensuring a lower environmental impact.

The Group headed by Cantine Riunite & Civ estimates that it will close the year 2023 with a total turnover of over 700 million euros, thus confirming that it is one of the most important wine companies in the world. The subsidiary Gruppo Italiano Vini S.p.A., a leading company in the production of quality Italian wines, and the foreign distribution companies, including the French Carniato and the American Frederick Wildman and Sons, also contribute to this result.
