The intersection between art and wine takes on a new, tangible dimension with Carapace Centenario, the project through which Tenute Lunelli celebrates the 100th anniversary of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s birth. Rooted in an existing bond between the artist and the Carapace winery‑sculpture in Umbria, the initiative translates into a limited edition designed to bring together object, memory and artistic vision within a single, coherent narrative.
A Limited Edition Designed for Collectors
Carapace Centenario is released as an exclusive production of 100 jeroboam bottles (3 litres) of Montefalco Sagrantino, produced inside the winery designed by Pomodoro himself.
The project is part of the official programme of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, inaugurated on 28 May with the exhibition “Arnaldo Pomodoro. Una Vita” at Gallerie d’Italia in Milan, where the commemorative bottle is also presented.
More than a tribute, the initiative functions as a continuation of the artist’s work, extending his legacy beyond sculpture into the realm of wine.

The Wine: Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2016
At the core of the edition is Carapace Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2016, selected as a representative expression of both the estate and Umbria’s iconic grape.
The wine reflects the elegance and ageing potential that define Tenute Lunelli’s production, positioning itself as the ideal medium for a project centred on time, memory and persistence.
The Bottle as a Design Object
The identity of Carapace Centenario is expressed through its construction as an art object. The label is crafted in copper—the same material that covers the dome of the Carapace winery—and incorporates the graphic sign created by Arnaldo Pomodoro for the estate’s wines.
The inclusion of the official centenary logo, together with a black wax seal, reinforces the exclusivity of the piece, conceived not merely as packaging but as a formal extension of the architectural work.
The Carapace winery remains the conceptual core of the project: a unique structure at the intersection of sculpture, architecture and wine, and both the production site of Sagrantino and a symbol of the relationship between art and winemaking. From this integration, Carapace Centenario emerges as a natural continuation of an already existing spatial and cultural project.

A Strategic Dialogue Between Art, Territory and Brand
The initiative also reflects the ongoing relationship between Tenute Lunelli and the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, developed through a shared vision that connects aesthetics, craftsmanship and territorial culture.
In this context, wine becomes a strategic narrative tool, capable of linking production, landscape and artistic heritage. Carapace Centenary operates on two complementary levels: as a limited edition aimed at collectors and high‑end markets, and as a brand storytelling platform that sustains the presence of the artist through both the wine and the architectural space he helped create.
