Champagne Barons de Rothschild continues its path of growth and strengthening on the Italian market with the appointment of the first six Ambassade in the Bel Paese: Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio, Villa Agrippina Grand Melià in Rome, Villa Fiorella Art Hotel in Massa Lubrense, Borgo San Jacopo in Florence, Park Hyatt Milan and Trattoria Lazzati in Milan.
The story of the Maison champenoise began in 2005, when the three great families of the dynasty – represented today by Philippe Sereys de Rothschild (Château Mouton Rothschild), Ariane de Rothschild (Château Clarke – Edmond de Rothschild Group) and Eric and his daughter Saskia de Rothschild (Château Lafite Rothschild) – joined forces to create a reality that embodies their spirit of excellence and conviviality, rooted in the great terroirs that have always inspired them.
This is how Champagne Barons de Rothschild was born, a young company that is already establishing itself among the big names. The Maison places Chardonnay at the heart of its production, coming from the best Grand and Premier Cru terroirs of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The savoir-faire in the assembly and the mastery in the art of refinement, inherited from the family’s experience in Bordeaux, allow for the production of complex, profound and extraordinarily elegant Champagnes, already present on the most prestigious tables in the world.
The Ambassadeurs Club: the value of shared excellence
Since 2016, Champagne Barons de Rothschild has created an international network of excellence, the Club Ambassadeurs, which today has more than 400 members worldwide.
Restaurateurs, sommeliers, hoteliers and professionals in the food and wine sector become ambassadors of the Maison, promoting its Champagnes through a daily commitment to their work. The club is so successful that, in 2023, demand exceeded the Maison’s production capacity by 15%, leading to the introduction of limited allocations.
The appointment of the first six Italian Ambassades marks a significant moment for Champagne Barons de Rothschild, which thus strengthens its ties with the Italian market, recognized as one of the most important globally for the Premium segment of Champagne.
A New Chapter for Champagne Barons de Rothschild
For its 20th anniversary, Champagne Barons de Rothschild has chosen to give itself a gift to reach ever higher levels of excellence with the completion of the project to build two new production facilities in the Champagne region, both designed by architect Giovanni Pace.
The first, located in Oger and operational from 2024, is intended for the refinement of bottles sur lattes, remuage, disgorgement, labelling and logistics. Built with a contemporary design and buried in chalk, this low environmental impact structure uses solar energy and guarantees ideal conditions for the aging of Champagne.
The second, in Vertus, will be inaugurated in June 2025 and will house the winemaking activities. Located next to the Clos owned by the Maison, acquired in 2013, the cellar will maintain the historical legacy of the building dating back to 1870, with its ancient underground vaults. Here, a cutting-edge cellar has been created, designed for extremely precise parcel-wise vinification, to best enhance each cru.
These two new structures mark an important moment in the history of the Maison, which ambitiously projects itself into the future, consolidating its position among the most prestigious Champagne houses in the world.
