Col Vetoraz: the respect for the territory goes through sustainability

One of the founding principles of the production philosophy of Col Vetoraz has always been the strong identity bond with its roots that sink into Valdobbiadene land, its uniqueness and extreme value. Every single choice, from the earth, to the vine, to the glass has always had a specific purpose to produce excellence. A path made of demanding choices, even against the current, where quality has always been an inspiration, where excellence comes always and only through ethical and sustainable behavior.

In the 15 municipalities of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG area it is estimated that over 40% is covered by wooded land. Specifically, the Col Vetoraz property is conserving 25 hectares of woodland area. A single hectare of wood can eliminate about 30 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere per year. The choice made by the company therefore helps to eliminate about 750 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere per year, which is equal to the quantity produced annually by 125 Italian inhabitants.

All human activities produce globally in Italy about 6 tons of CO2 per year per inhabitant. Considering that Col Vetoraz relies on a production chain that employs 25 workers, the conservation of its wooded surface allows the elimination of a quantity of CO2 five times bigger than the average produced by 25 Italian inhabitants.

Numbers by no means negligible that demonstrate how relevant the space given to the care and protection of the environment is within the company philosophy, an element that today more than ever must become an essential habit in everyone’s everyday life.

Sustainability: Col Vetoraz retains part of the wooded property and removes 750 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere per year.

About Col Vetoraz

Col Vetoraz is located in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG area, at almost 400 mt above sea level, at the highest point of the homonymous hill, among the famous Cartizze hills. It is right here that the Miotto family settled in 1838, developing the vine cultivation from the beginning. In 1993 Francesco Miotto, descendant of this family, together with the agronomist Paolo De Bortoli and the oenologist Loris Dall’Acqua founded the current Col Vetoraz, a winery that was able to innovate and grow reaching in just 25 years the top of Valdobbiadene DOCG production both in quantitative and qualitative terms, with over 2.300.000 kg of DOCG grapes vinified per year from which is selected the production of 1.250.000 bottles.

Today, having the company reached the age of 30, the challenge is to be able to maintain this important position over time. A great respect for tradition, deep love for the territory, extreme care of the vineyards and a scrupulous methodology of the production chain as well as the production of large cuvées, have allowed Col Vetoraz over the years to obtain excellent wines and flattering results at the most prestigious national and international wine competitions.
