Collio is preparing to experience a historic moment. After a 2024 full of celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Consortium, October 26 and 27 will mark the official debut of Collio Evolution, the first event of the Denomination, an event that will put a different wine in the spotlight each year, marking the beginning of a new era for the territory and its wines. The protagonist of the first edition of Collio Evolution will be Friulano, the symbolic grape variety of the region, which will be at the center of a sensory journey between tradition and innovation. The heart of the event will be a technical tasting reserved for the press, an unmissable opportunity to discover the many nuances of this wine and grasp the evolutions through the theme “Past, Present and Future of Friulano”.
Alongside the technical tasting, the walk around tasting will take place with the Producers, true custodians of the winemaking tradition of the territory and who represent a living bridge between past and future. These moments of direct comparison will offer a privileged look at the daily work and the “passion” that animates those who work to keep alive the culture of Friulano and all the other wines of the Denomination.
“After sixty years of history, it is time to evolve and give the Denomination an event all its own,” explains Lavinia Zamaro, director of the Consortium. “We chose to start with Friulano because it represents the authentic link between all the companies in our territory,” adds president David Buzzinelli.
Collio Evolution is also for wine lovers
Not just an appointment with technical tasting: Collio Evolution, in fact, will also include a moment dedicated to enthusiasts with “Enjoy Collio Experience”. The event, organized on Saturday 25 October, will offer wine lovers the opportunity to participate and live up close the immersive experience of discovering the territory and its wines.
Collio Evolution will also be the stage for the 18th edition of the Collio Award, established in honor of Count Sigismondo Douglas Attems of Petzenstein, the first president of the Consortium. An award that rewards the most significant contributions on a scientific, applicative and informative level in the field of viticulture, oenology and the valorization of the territory.
A great year full of initiatives for the Consortium, which in 2025 sees other key events such as a tasting day dedicated to Collio wines and aimed at London sector operators in March (in collaboration with the UK Sommelier Association), participation in Vinitaly, with an aperitif in the center of Verona, Collio Day and much more.
Collio Evolution is not just an event, but the new signature of the Denomination. A symbol of its identity and its future, a combination of its unique wines and the extraordinary beauty of this territory. The countdown has officially begun.
