Collio Wine Protection Consortium, a 60-year journey

The Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio, established on 31 May 1964, will celebrate its 60 years by organizing an exclusive event which, with a rich program and illustrious guests, will be celebrated from 31 May to 1 June, a fundamental moment for the denomination and for all people who work and invest daily in the wine sector of this wonderful region, among the most suitable in the world for the cultivation of vines. “This achievement fills us with pride,” said Lavinia Zamaro, director of the Consortium, “so we have decided to consecrate it with a unique event, which will involve, among others, some of the historical protagonists of the Denomination and some personalities from the entertainment and world some wine”.

Grand finale with the gala at the Villa Russiz Foundation, with menus created by Chef Cristian Nardulli paired with the great white and red wines of Collio.
Therefore, on Saturday 1st June, at Tenuta Borgo Conventi, the XVII Collio Prize will be awarded, dedicated to Count Sigismondo Douglas Attems of Petzenstein, presented by Stefano Cosma.
David Buzzinelli, president of the Consortium, underlines: “Teamwork has led to this celebration. The Collio producers together with our Consortium have distinguished themselves for the commitment and tenacity with which they have enhanced viticulture, the territory and the wine tourism hospitality. A 60-year journey, shared at all times and we believe that there is still a lot to do for the future."

Collio Wine Protection Consortium, the celebrations

The two-day program for the celebrations of the 60 years of the Collio Consortium is sufficiently intense. It will begin on May 31st with the masterclass “Tastings of the history of Collio” led by the Professional Sommelier Michele Paiano, a journey through past and present, with Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Sauvignon, Collio Bianco, The longevity of Collio Bianco, The Collio Rosso.

Following the conference moderated by the journalist and writer Licia Granello, where we will talk about wine, terroir, history and oenology with four illustrious guests who boast a deep connection with the Collio: Michele Formentini – firsthand witness to the signature of the deed of incorporation of the Wine Protection Consortium – Tiziana Frescobaldi, Gianni Bignucolo and the well-known commentator Bruno Pizzul.
