Copa-Cogeca: Luca Rigotti re-elected as president of the Wine Working Group

Luca Rigotti was re-elected today in Brussels as president of the Wine Working Group of Copa-Cogeca, the main European agri-food representative organization. Rigotti, already number one of the Wine Sector Committee of Confcooperative Fedagripesca in Italy, was appointed to represent the Alleanza delle Cooperative Agroalimentari and will be supported for the next two years by two vice-presidents, the Frenchman Lodovic Roux (LCA) and the German Christian Schwoerer (DBV). An entrepreneur in the wine sector, Luca Rigotti has been president of the Mezzacorona Group and its subsidiary Nosio S.p.a. since 2012. In 2021 he was elected for the first time to lead the Copa-Cogeca Wine Group.

New mandate, therefore, for Luca Rigotti as president of the Copa-Cogeca Wine Working Group.

The number one of the Mezzacorona Group and of the subsidiary Nosio S.p.a., as well as of the Wine Sector Committee of Confcooperative Fedagripesca, in thanking for the trust with which he was reconfirmed at the helm of the working group, underlined in his inaugural speech the main critical issues that the sector is called to face in this particular period, and how the European wine cooperation, which represents the majority of the continent’s production, “is committed to quality and marketing”.

“The debate at European level is based on sharing suitable measures to facilitate the sector in all its phases both with regard to market developments and changes in tastes, methods and places of consumption”.

“We must return to making wine appreciated by a wide public,” concluded Rigotti, “while promoting the culture of conscious, moderate and responsible drinking. There are challenging issues related to the value of environmental sustainability, with important results already achieved by our winemakers that we must make known to consumers, and to the growth of low-alcohol and dealcoholized wines, which can be a new opportunity to be supported and encouraged with determination”.
