Sipping a glass of sparkling wine while sharing this pleasure with family or friends is a joyful ritual that becomes even more indispensable during the holidays. Christmas at Col Vetoraz offers the story of a unique land, capable of producing excellence, through three Valdobbiadene DOCG with evocative names, in homage to the slopes from which they come: the Coasts of Levante, Ponente and Mezzodì. Coste di Levante, di Ponente and di Mezzodì, evocative names of enchanting slopes, for an unforgettable tasting experience at Christmas
Valdobbiadene DOCG Brut Coste di Levante, Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra Dry Coste di Ponente, Valdobbiadene DOCG Millesimato Dry Coste di Mezzodì: a careful selection of grapes made by the company, coming from what are called “coste” here, that is, from the more or less steep hilly terrains, exposed respectively to the east, west and south and which, precisely because of the particular soil and climate situation, lend themselves perfectly to the production of Brut, Extra Dry and Dry sparkling wines of great harmony.
All obtained from 100% Glera grapes, these wines fully interpret the key words that always identify the entire range of the Treviso company: balance, harmony, elegance.

“The Valdobbiadene DOCG Col Vetoraz called Coste – explains the CEO and winemaker Loris Dall’Acqua – represent the clearest territorial expression. They are all children of the piedmont hills, where we have chosen the vineyards with the most suitable exposures to outline their precise personalities”.
But let’s get to know them more closely:
- Valdobbiadene DOCG Brut Coste di Levante is a very trendy wine from the hillside vineyards facing east, where the grapes reach ideal levels for the production of this sparkling wine. Suitable for palates that prefer dry wines, it is a dry, savoury and intense wine, with a fine and persistent perlage, a creamy foam and a taste without sharpness but delicately perfumed, thanks to the floral notes of rose, citrus, acacia and the fruity notes of white peach, pear and apple.
Pairing: perfect for an aperitif but also pleasant when paired with shellfish and fine fish.
- Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra Dry Coste di Ponente is the undisputed prince of aperitifs. Inviting and friendly, it is obtained thanks to a careful selection of the hillside grapes of the exclusive Valdobbiadene area facing west. It is a wine with a balanced taste and elegant tones whose light sugar residue contributes to obtaining a great overall harmony. The delicately fruity aromas recall the rose, the acacia flower, the very delicate vine flower, the white peach, the pear, and a light citrus.
Pairing: it gently accompanies lunches with light dishes, or ricotta and spinach ravioli on taleggio cream or pappardelle with honey mushrooms, chestnuts and ricotta.
- Valdobbiadene DOCG Millesimato Dry Coste di Mezzodì, coming from the vineyards on the hills exposed to the south, is a persuasive, elegant and complex wine, with a fine perlage, with an inviting citrus vein that well outlines the nose, followed by white peach, pear, white flowers and aromatic herbs to confirm its typicality. The creamy carbonation and the marked freshness are in perfect balance with the sweetness of the sugars and the persistence in the mouth is perfect.
Pairing: it is a sparkling wine particularly suitable at the end of a meal for the final toast, but it also adapts well to other moments of the day. Excellent if accompanied by foie-gras crostini.
About Col Vetoraz Spumanti, winery in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG
Located in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG, the Col Vetoraz winery is located at almost 400 meters above sea level, at the highest point of the homonymous hill, part of the famous Cartizze hills. It is precisely here that the Miotto family settled in 1838, developing the cultivation of vines from the beginning.
In 1993 Francesco Miotto, a descendant of this family, together with the agronomist Paolo De Bortoli and the oenologist Loris Dall’Acqua gave life to the current Col Vetoraz, a small winery that has been able to innovate and grow and reach the peak of Valdobbiadene DOCG production in just 25 years, both in terms of quantity and quality, with over 2,300,000 kg of DOCG grapes vinified per year from which the production of 1,250,000 bottles is selected.
Today, having reached 30 years, the challenge is to be able to maintain this important position gained over time. Great respect for tradition, deep love for the territory, extreme care of the vineyards and a scrupulous methodology of the production chain and the production of the great cuvées, have allowed over the years to obtain excellent wines and flattering results at the most prestigious national and international wine competitions.
