Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura: the fleeting beauty becomes a limited‑edition Champagne

Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura returns as a limited‑edition Champagne blending French craftsmanship with the poetry of hanami

The Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura returns: a Champagne that is more than a cuvée. What is captured in the bottle is, in fact, a cultural gesture—a symbolic bridge between France and Japan, between the historic Maison of Aÿ and the millenary tradition of hanami, the ritual that celebrates the blooming of cherry blossoms. A brief and precious moment that encapsulates the essence of impermanence, renewal, and awareness of the present. This limited edition—created about ten years ago as a tribute to the cherry blossom—returns again in 2026, as a Champagne that conveys emotion, seasonality, and delicacy, transforming the act of toasting into a moment of contemplation.

Sakura is not just a label: it is a dialogue between French aesthetics and Japanese sensibility, where restraint, detail, and transience become integral to Deutz’s vision. A Rosé that goes beyond terroir to translate the idea of an unrepeatable instant into bubbles.

Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura: the limited edition shaped by Premier and Grand Cru

Produced exclusively during the spring period, Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. The blend—true to the Maison’s stylistic signature—is composed of 90% Pinot Noir sourced from some of Champagne’s most renowned villages, including Aÿ, Mareuil‑sur‑Aÿ, Avenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, and Tauxières, and 10% Chardonnay from Avize, Villeneuve Renneville, and Vertus.

The specificity of the cuvée is defined by the addition of red wines produced from the parcels of Pierre Robert and La Pelle in Aÿ, and from the vineyards of Cumaine, Vaularon, and Mutry in Mareuil‑sur‑Aÿ—evidence of a stylistic precision that begins in the vineyard. Ageing on lees lasts a minimum of 30 months, resulting in a Champagne that expresses elegance, freshness, and aromatic intensity.

A Rosé Champagne of luminous finesse and a poetic tribute to Japan

Deutz Brut Rosé Sakura displays a bright pink colour with luminous highlights. The nose is fresh and delicate, offering notes of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and redcurrant, intertwined with a floral touch and a subtle brioche nuance.

The palate is creamy and harmonious, supported by an elegant structure and fresh tension that unfolds into a long, balanced finish marked by refined, subtle fruit persistence.

“This Sakura Rosé Champagne, crafted from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, draws inspiration from the delicacy of Japanese culture. Refined, gourmand, and voluptuous, it is the ideal companion for moments of shared emotion at the arrival of the beautiful season,” says Caroline Latrive, Chef de Caves of Maison Deutz.

Aÿ: the cradle that expresses the soul of Deutz Champagnes

The history of Maison Deutz is inseparable from Aÿ, a 100% Grand Cru for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Here, in 1838, William Deutz and Pierre Hubert Geldermann founded what would become one of Champagne’s most recognised houses, guardian of terroir tradition and at the same time a pioneer in the language of cuvées.

The historic chalk cellars, the tailor‑made approach to blending, the ability to preserve the brilliance of the region’s emblematic grape varieties, and a philosophy that combines rigour and creativity still define Deutz’s identity today.

With around 50 hectares of estate vineyards certified HVE and in organic conversion—spanning Aÿ, Verzenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Avize, Oger, and Mesnil‑sur‑Oger—the Maison produces about three million bottles per year, all rooted in a rigorous selection of Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels.

Sakura is born from this same vision: respect for raw material, perfection in blending, and an approach that is both historic and contemporary.
