Doc Delle Venezie: Luca Rigotti is the new president of the Consortium

Luca Rigotti has been elected president of the Consorzio di Tutela Doc Delle Venezie. The appointment took place on Monday 12 May, by the renewed Board of Directors, which took office following the Shareholders’ Meeting held at the Cantina Colli Berici in Lonigo. During the Meeting, the programmatic guidelines that will guide the consortium’s activity in the next three-year period 2025-2028 were also approved. President of the Mezzacorona Group and of the Copa-Cogeca Wine Working Group, already a member of the Consortium, Rigotti will be supported by vice-presidents Christian Scrinzi (Collis Veneto Wine Group) and Flavio Bellomo (Cantina di Conegliano, Vittorio Veneto and Casarsa), chairing a Board of Directors composed of 21 members representing the Triveneto wine supply chain, the largest model of interregional integration in Italy that brings together the producers of Pinot Grigio from Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the autonomous Province of Trento.

“I thank the councilors for the trust they placed in me in entrusting me with the leadership of the Protection Consortium”, were the first words of the newly appointed president Luca Rigotti. “We will work with determination in continuity with the effective activity carried out with foresight and balance by the previous Board of Directors and by President Armani, whom I sincerely thank for his valuable service to the Consortium in these founding years of great commitment. Our primary objective will be to consolidate and strengthen the positioning and territorial and economic value of Pinot Grigio Doc Delle Venezie, which has confirmed itself as the best-selling Italian still wine in the world”.

“We will continue to promote and implement measures to manage production potential, which in recent years have guaranteed significant growth of the Denomination on the markets. Today, more than ever, it is essential to be able to respond with innovation, planning and dynamism to the changes underway: new consumption models, environmental, economic and social sustainability, market consolidation, climate change, issues of the highest priority that will be at the center of our action”.

Luca Rigotti president of the Consorzio di Tutela Doc Delle Venezie: the objectives of the mandate

The objectives of the new mandate, announced in continuity with the previous one, are clear: starting from the strengthening of the unitary management of the largest Designation of Origin in the country, which today confirms itself as a pillar for the stability of the interregional production chain, as well as an absolute reference for the Pinot Grigio variety at a global level, as demonstrated by the positive performance of the Doc recorded in recent years, with 2024 marking a +3% in the bottled volume compared to 2023, for over 1.7 million hectoliters packaged.

A result that rewards the commitment to quality and the certification system that was sealed with the State seal applied to each bottle of Pinot Grigio Doc Delle Venezie, a concrete demonstration of excellence and valorization of one of the iconic products of Italian viticulture, a symbol of Made in Italy in the world.

“I would like to thank the Boards of Directors that I have had the honor of chairing over the years,” declared Past President Albino Armani, “in a challenging but fruitful journey for the Pinot Grigio system, which has proven and continues to be a virtuous case of coordination and farsighted administration of the denomination. I wish the new president Luca Rigotti good luck, aware of the great contribution he will be able to make to the growth of the Delle Venezie DOC.”

The new course of the Consortium therefore looks to the future with a clear vision: to enhance the Pinot Grigio Doc Delle Venezie as an authentic expression of the territory, focusing on quality, certification, sustainability, innovation and wine culture, with the aim of further increasing the presence of Pinot Grigio on all world markets.
