Doc Sicilia wines: the tour around the world in 2024

A real tour around the world. This is what will bring DOC Sicilia wines not only throughout Europe, but also in the UK, USA, Canada and China, without forgetting a trip to Verona for Vinitaly 2024. In the coming months, the Sicilian denomination will tell about itself to enthusiasts, consumers and professionals in the wine sector from all over the world, with a single objective: to make the quality of its labels increasingly known and therefore raise their value. These are, moreover, some of the aims of the Consortium for the Protection of Doc Sicily Wines, which since 2012, in parallel with the protection and supervision activities to defend consumers and producers, has been organizing events and initiatives aimed at promoting the denomination.

“In Europe, from journalists to sommeliers, from influencers to sector operators, the Consortium wants to reach its main targets, not only with digital channels but also with events on the national territory”, underlines the president of the Consortium Antonio Rallo. “One of the most important opportunities to disseminate the consortium’s products will be Vinitaly, which will once again be present with a totally dedicated stand, where master classes, seminars and tastings will alternate for the qualified public of the fair, offering the wines of the producers who will join for tasting. to the initiative”.

The Bi.Vi.Si Project presents itself at Vinitaly 2024,

Doc Sicilia protagonist in Verona. In addition to the focus on Sicilian wine tourism, carried out in collaboration with Le Soste di Ulisse, during Vinitaly 2024, the results and tastings of some experimental wines will be presented as part of the Bi.Vi.Si. Project, which presents itself as aim is to enhance Sicilian viticultural biodiversity in the wake of process and product innovation, with the aim of providing regional companies with substantial and long-lasting competitive advantages.

Specifically, the choice was to dedicate itself to the valorisation of some native vines and relics to affirm the profound connections between the ancient vine and the culture of the place that selected and cultivated it and strengthen the contribution that these accessions can give to agricultural development and economic of the regional territory.

The “Vista Lucido” project will also be presented, which has the aim of creating a model of an innovative and sustainable approach to the valorisation of native productions, with particular attention to the Lucido cultivar with the consequent valorisation of the wines, also through the introduction of new product types, and improving their recognition on the markets.

On a Extra-European level, in addition to an intense relationship and educational program with distributors, restaurateurs and retailers aimed at increasing awareness and visibility of the brand, a series of promotional activities are planned throughout 2024.

In Canada, the partnership continues with the two agencies that work in synergy to guarantee maximum coverage in the area, namely Wine Ambassadors, for activities aimed at trade and State Monopolies and Current Global, which enhances and amplifies messages through the management of dedicated social channels.

On the one hand the aim of Ambasciatori dei Vini is to spread awareness of Sicilia Doc among consumers, on the other it is to make the Doc Sicilia brand increasingly present among the priorities of stakeholders in the world of wine. Also this year, part of the strategy involves the involvement of the country’s main monopolies, including a major promotional activity with LCBO, an alcoholic beverage distribution company operating throughout the Canadian province of Ontario, from 21 July to 17 August, and opportunities of educational courses aimed at operators in the sector, as well as new opportunities such as the possibility of participating in person at the Saguenay Wine Festival from 11 to 13 July.

If in China, however, the Consortium continues its collaboration with Ice Beijing, which currently manages the dedicated social channels for the Chinese market, this year too the Consortium has decided to promote the DOC Sicilia wines through an event in London: 10 June a walk around tasting dedicated to the meeting between companies and buyers from the UK market will be held, to be carried out in collaboration with the trade magazine “The Drinks Business”.

In the USA, the partnership continues with the two agencies that work in synergy to guarantee maximum coverage in the area, namely Colangelo&Partners, for activities aimed at trade and Current Global, which manages the dedicated social channels for the US market and Media and Public Relations on an ongoing basis.

Seminars, tasting and incoming: these are the activities carried out by Colangelo&Partners to make DOC Sicilia wines increasingly present and highlighted among operators in the sector. Starting from last year’s experience, we will repeat the creation of a Grand walk around tasting in New York accompanied by other smaller events in other cities, on 12 June in Boston, on 13 June in Chicago, on 17 June in Miami, on June 20 in New York.

The panorama of activities dedicated to the trade is completed by: the Consortium’s participation in TexSom, the presence of Sicilia Doc wines at the Wine & Spirits event in NYC on 15 February and at the Slow Wine stops in Washington DC on 18 March and San Francisco on 27 March Tours.
