Euda: a preview of the new Pinot Nero from the Collio of Borgo Conventi

A new and unprecedented shade of red, which bears the signature of the internationally renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, colors the Collio of Borgo Conventi, an estate in Farra d’Isonzo (Gorizia) owned by the Moretti Polegato family. Thanks to a wine which, right from its special label, already awarded on its debut at the Vinitaly Design Award, and even in its name, is a tribute to the genius of Amedeo Modigliani. While waiting for its official release, which will not happen before September, a preview of the new Euda, Pinot Nero Collio Doc 2021 by Borgo Conventi.

The Pinot Nero from the Collio of Borgo Conventi

Vineyards surrounded by the soft profile of the hills, between plains and woods and small historic villages: in this Friulian landscape full of contrasts, which has always been suited to wine production, Euda is born, the new Pinot Nero Collio Doc 2021 from Borgo Conventi, the Farra d ‘Isonzo (Gorizia) owned by the Moretti Polegato family.

A shade of red that perfectly expresses the character of the land in which it comes to life. For a wine with an elegant and delicate body, floral, with aromas of cherries, raspberries, hibiscus flowers and rose followed by light and elegant notes of vanilla, coffee and tobacco.

A Pinot Nero that seduces from the first glance with its ruby red color with violet reflections, and then presents itself slightly tannic, harmonious and persistent on the palate.

Euda: the preview tasting and the homage on the label to Modigliani

Euda Pinot Nero Collio Doc 2021 is a new label that enriches the Borgo Conventi Crù Line, which includes wines produced in limited quantities only with grapes selected in the best vintages.

“We are proud to present the new Euda Borgo Conventi label, a fine wine, with a strong personality, which continues the tradition of excellence of the winery”, underlines Giancarlo Moretti Polegato, owner of the estate.

“Borgo Conventi is a historic company, among the most cutting-edge companies in the region. Our goal is to continue to produce exceptional wines, with respect and loving care for every detail, transferring the extraordinary flavors, colors and aromas of this land into every bottle.”

Euda is the diminutive of Eudamonia, happiness understood in a philosophical sense as the ultimate goal of existence. A Greek word composed of eu, meaning “good”, and daimon, “demon”, literally “to be in the company of a good demon”.

A condition of the soul attributed to Amedeo Modigliani, who inspired the label of the new Pinot Nero Collio Doc 2021 by Borgo Conventi, a small work of art with a strong symbolic meaning which, as anticipated, has already obtained its first recognition at Vinitaly Design Award competition, winning the “Best Excellence in embellishment” award.

The tapered profile evokes the grace and refinement of Pinot Nero, a fine grape variety present in Collio in very few particular expressions. For an ageless face created with a magnificent micro-engraving on gunmetal gray foil, reminiscent of the chisel on the stone, which can tell the story of an equally timeless wine, to be tasted immediately or left to rest awaiting its evolution.

But there is more: the contrast between the almost velvety effect of the paper and the roughness of the engraving tells the story of the terroir of origin, the Collio, a border region in which different cultures, traditions, languages and landscapes mix, and where man has learned to live with nature in perfect harmony.

Euda is, as mentioned at the beginning, a perfect expression of the land from which it takes shape: a red with the face of Friuli, rich in harmonious contrasts and with fine elegance. Obtained from Pinot Nero grapes grown in the Dolegna vineyard, it is the result of a hilly terrain composed of the stratification of marl and sandstone, in the area north of the Collio: an ancient seabed in which the vines sink their roots and which gives the wines this area minerality and flavor.

A unique and unmistakable identity, for a new reference that expands the selection of wines from the estate, which includes the Collio Doc whites with Sauvignon, Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Pinot Grigio, the Isonzo Doc whites, the Refosco and Schioppettino fino reds to the precious Braida Nuova crus and Luna di Ponca Collio Bianco Doc.
