In the wine world, a change in leadership is always a delicate moment. In two of the most symbolic institutions of Verona and Valpolicella, it is even more so, given the weight such a decision carries. Le Famiglie Storiche and Antica Bottega del Vino have announced their new governance. And there could not have been a better handover to open a new phase marked by continuity and by a renewal that strengthens the cultural and oenological role of a system that has always represented the excellence of its territory. Luca Speri succeeds Pierangelo Tommasi as president of the Famiglie Storiche Association, while Giacomo Boscaini becomes president of Antica Bottega del Vino, taking over from outgoing president Sabrina Tedeschi.
Luca Speri at the helm of Famiglie Storiche
The Famiglie Storiche Association – which brings together 13 of the most prestigious wineries in Valpolicella – has entrusted its presidency to Luca Speri, who succeeds Pierangelo Tommasi after a term marked by growth and consolidation.
Founded in 2009 and today composed of Allegrini, Begali, Bertani, Brigaldara, Guerrieri Rizzardi, Masi, Musella, Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant’Antonio, Tommasi, Torre D’Orti, Zenato and Speri itself, the association represents a virtuous model of collaboration among wineries united by deep roots and a production philosophy centered on quality and authenticity.
The new president inherits a complex legacy built over years of work aimed at strengthening the identity of Amarone and positioning it as a contemporary fine wine.
Luca Speri outlines the approach that will guide his mandate:
“I take on the presidency of Famiglie Storiche with pride, gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. I thank Pierangelo Tommasi for the passion and integrity with which he has led the association in recent years, helping to strengthen its identity and prestige. I also wish to thank all members for the trust they have placed in me. I will work with a spirit of collaboration to ensure continuity in the association’s path, seeking to enhance our history and that of our prestigious denominations while looking to the future with confidence.”

The legacy of Pierangelo Tommasi and the association’s journey
The handover takes place in the spirit of continuity, as highlighted by Pierangelo Tommasi:
“I thank all members and the Board for their support, trust and collaborative spirit throughout these years of shared work. Together we have strengthened the role of Famiglie Storiche as a benchmark for the promotion of Amarone, accompanying an important evolution that has led this great wine to be increasingly recognized as a contemporary fine wine, capable of engaging with today’s gastronomy and consumers. I leave the presidency with satisfaction and with the certainty that the new President will continue this journey with energy, vision and passion, further enhancing the unique heritage we represent.”
A journey that consolidates the association’s role as an ambassador of Valpolicella’s identity, capable of holding together tradition and modernity.
Antica Bottega del Vino: Giacomo Boscaini becomes president
At the same time, Giacomo Boscaini takes over the presidency of Antica Bottega del Vino, the historic Veronese establishment that today stands as an international reference point for wine and gastronomic culture, recently expanding with a new opening in Cortina.
The project, owned by ten Famiglie Storiche wineries, is one of the symbolic places of Italian hospitality, where wine, cuisine and culture intertwine in a story that spans centuries.
Boscaini embraces this role with a vision that blends respect for tradition with a forward‑looking perspective:
“Antica Bottega del Vino is much more than a restaurant: it is a symbolic place of Verona’s wine culture, a historical and human heritage that tells the story of our city, the value of hospitality and the shared values of Famiglie Storiche. For me, who lives the world of wine not only as a profession but as a true personal passion, taking on this role is a source of great pride and gratitude. I take on the work done so far with respect and awareness of the responsibility that comes with leading such a special place. Together with the Famiglie Storiche members, the Board, the management and the entire team, we will continue to work with enthusiasm to enhance Antica Bottega del Vino, preserving its identity, history and soul, and guiding it with balance toward new opportunities for growth.”

The new governance structure fits into a path already well established, as highlighted by director Luca Nicolis and outgoing president Sabrina Tedeschi.
“I sincerely thank Sabrina for these years of shared work,” says Luca Nicolis, director of Antica Bottega del Vino. “It has been an intense journey that has allowed us to grow together and achieve important milestones. Now the time has come to pass the baton, and I wish the new President and the new Board continued success as they pursue this path of growth and look ambitiously toward future opportunities.”
Sabrina Tedeschi echoes his words:
“I thank Luca Nicolis, the Bottega team, the Board and the members for the trust and support I have received over these years. We have always worked with great enthusiasm and in full alignment. The results achieved are the fruit of this positive spirit and of our ability to work as a team, elements that have guided – and will continue to guide – every step of our journey.”
