Francesco Mazzei confirmed president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana

Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana: Francesco Mazzei confirmed as president for the third term. Florentine, born in 1959, Francesco Mazzei is CEO of Marchesi Mazzei spa, which includes Tenuta Belguardo in the Tuscan Maremma among its companies.

Francesco Mazzei currently also holds the position of president of Avito, an association that brings together 24 wine consortia in Tuscany, which supply practically the entirety of the regional PDO and IGT production with over 1 billion in turnover (11% of the national one) and is president of the L’Altra Toscana Association.

“I am honored by the trust placed in me, encouraging results have been achieved regarding the notoriety and appreciation of the Denomination, but there is still a lot of work to do”, said the reconfirmed president: “The DOC Maremma Toscana has made clear steps forward and it is desirable to act in continuity with the objectives of the development program put in place at the beginning of my first mandate. We will continue in that direction, trying to best carry out all institutional commitments, from valorisation to promotion of the Denomination, focusing on four further assets such as rationalization of the regulations, research, wine tourism, and synergy with the other Consortia in the area”.

Born in 2014, the Tuscan Maremma Wine Protection Consortium currently has 465 member companies, of which 124 vertical companies. The production involves small and medium-sized winemakers alongside some of the most famous names on the national wine scene.

In addition to the reconfirmation of president Francesco Mazei, the new board of directors was announced: Federica Mascheroni Stianti from Castelprile della Volpaia and Pericle Paciello from Rocca di Frassinello are leaving; Andrea Daldin, representing Tenuta Sassoregale – S.M.Tenimenti Pile Lamole Vistarenni and San Disdagio, will be replaced by Alessandro Marzotto.

The new incoming councilors are Danilo Nocciolini of Cantina LaSelva and Giuseppe Mantellassi of Fattoria Mantellassi.

The distribution of councilors for the individual production categories therefore includes among the winemakers: Danilo Nocciolini (Cantina LaSelva), Marco Bruni (Bruni), Edoardo Donato (Donato Edoardo winery); for the Winemakers category: Massimo Tuccio (Cantina “I Vini di Maremma” S.A.C.), Alessandro Gallo (Tenuta Rocca di Montemassi – Castello d’Albola), Francesco Mazzei (Belguardo – Mazzei), Alessandro Marzotto (Tenuta Sassoregale – S.M.Tenimenti Pile Lamole Vistarenni and San Disdagio) while among the bottlers Giuseppe Mantellassi (Fattoria Mantellassi) and Sergio Bucci (Cantina Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano).

Marco Bruni and Edoardo Donato have been confirmed as Vice Presidents who will support Mazzei.
