The Garda Doc Consortium, next October 8th in Canton Ticino, in Lugano, and more precisely at Villa Principe Leopoldo, will present the excellences of the denomination during the event “The growth of the Garda Doc terroir”. The Masteclass, designed for the Association Suisse des Sommeliers Professionnels and led by Carlo Alberto Panont, director of the Garda Doc Consortium, is aimed at getting to know the history of the Consortium and its wines up close. Over the years, the body that protects the Garda Denomination has carried out multiple promotional actions in Switzerland, and the next autumn event in Lugano, aimed at sommeliers and Food and beverage managers, curated by Rocco Lettieri, is part of a well-defined promotion strategy.
“The quality of the wines and related experiential tourism – underlines the president of the Consortium, Paolo Fiorini – these are the aspects that lead many Swiss consumers to visit our territory and reward the Garda Doc. We consistently carry out a program of useful dissemination to allow the dissemination of information and promotion suitable for those who love to discover the Denomination in an increasingly in-depth way”.

Switzerland, in fact, plays a strategic role for the Garda Doc Consortium: in addition to being one of the markets that have most rewarded Lake Garda as a summer tourist destination, the country, second only to the German market, is also one of the target locations for the export of wines of the Denomination. During the event, a video documentary dedicated to the heterogeneity of the Garda Doc soil will also be screened.
“The ASSP – Association of Sommeliers of the Canton of Ticino – adds Anna Valli, president of the association – promotes and supports the event dedicated to the study of the terroir and the wine panorama of Garda Doc. An important opportunity to update and get closer to the wine excellences of this area, the Garda Doc wines, already well-rated and appreciated on the Swiss market, will be the protagonists of a masterclass reserved for professionals in the sector, including sommeliers, journalists and importers. During the meeting, the unique characteristics of the territory and future prospects will be discussed. An unmissable event, made possible thanks to the Garda Doc Consortium, aimed at consolidating the link between the Swiss market and quality”.
For the producers who will participate in the initiative, the Swiss market is “A very important market and this is why we choose to reiterate our participation over the years. Garda wines are increasingly appreciated, also in relation to the well-known change in consumption from heavy red wines to light whites: Switzerland reveals that it particularly appreciates varietals as well as sparkling wines”.
