Il Borro Toscana lands in Montalcino: Ferruccio Ferragamo in the land of Brunello after the acquisition of Tenuta Pinino
Important acquisition for Il Borro Toscana, the estate of Ferruccio Ferragamo’s family, which announces that it has taken over the Pinino winery, based in the renowned area of Montalcino.
This is a strategic operation, which allows Borro Wines to further expand the offer of fine wines, strengthening its position in the high-end wine sector.
Tenuta Pinino, with its 21 hectares, of which 16.24 of vineyards – 7.67 hectares of Brunello, 5.42 hectares of Rosso di Montalcino and 3.15 hectares of S. Antimo Sangiovese – will integrate the approximately 84 hectares in total by Il Borro screw, also allowing us to increase the number of labels offered.
In fact, the annual production of around 80 thousand bottles, of which a considerable part of Brunello di Montalcino, which will be added to the Borro Wines product portfolio, is fundamental in the choice of investment.
Il Borro Toscana has been owned since 1993 by Ferruccio Ferragamo’s family who manages it with his children Salvatore, particularly involved in the activities of the wine sector, and Vittoria, responsible for Sustainability.
The estate, which extends into the Valdarno Superiore basin on an area of 1,100 hectares of organic cultivation immersed in the heart of Tuscany, closed 2023 with a turnover that exceeded 22 million euros, +18% compared to the previous year .
In particular, Il Borro Wines, a segment of the company dedicated to viticulture and oenology, recorded growth of 20% compared to the previous year, with notable increases in sales on all markets, in particular the Asian one (+54%) and European (+53%) as well as +4% in the American market, which continues to represent one of the main reference areas for Il Borro wines.
The acquisition of Pinino is part of a growth path for Il Borro Toscana which, in addition to the wine and production of the agricultural estate which combines oil, horticulture, eggs, honey and sheep’s cheese, also benefits from the excellent performance of the hospitality area and catering, both growing in 2023.
