A seal of excellence with an international scope for the new cuvée: entry into the oldest and most prestigious selection of fine wines in the world consecrates the Champagne that synthesizes in the bottle the steepest parcel of the Domaine, La Forêt, as a high-profile wine, honoring it with an unparalleled strategic positioning even before its bottling.

A new Champagne for La Place de Bordeaux: La Forêt Blanc de Noirs 2020 Domaine Alexandre Bonnet

To enhance the nobility of Les Riceys Pinot Noir: this is the goal that Domaine Alexandre Bonnet has set for La Forêt Blanc de Noirs 2020, the Champagne that synthesizes in the bottle the steepest parcel of the Domaine, La Forêt, exposed to the south and cultivated with Pinot Noir for over 50 years.

The decisive, wild and vibrant character of this wonderful expression of Pinot Noir by Alexandre Bonnet, interpreted by the uniqueness of Les Riceys and sculpted by the Kimmeridgian soils, is decidedly exceptional for its finesse and generosity.

The sunny but cool climate, precision viticulture, slow pressing and static decantation contribute, together with the 39 months on the lees, to the definition of the first vintage of Blanc de Noirs by La Forêt: a cuvée that does not require sulphites or dosages, dedicated to lovers of great refined, elegant and carnal wines.

The approach of the first vintage of Blanc de Noirs obtained from this vineyard to La Place de Bordeaux was consequently natural: the centuries-old know-how of the Bordeaux negociants, which allows great international wines privileged access to the most prestigious niches of foreign markets, has recognized its excellence in terms of quality and distinctiveness.

“Being on La Place de Bordeaux with La Forêt Blanc de Noirs 2020 marks a milestone for the Domaine. Pinot Noir was planted at La Forêt in 1973: this wine is the result of the care of a fifty-year-old vineyard that consecrates a piece of Les Riceys history, in addition to its uniqueness,” explains Arnaud Fabre, president of Domaine Alexandre Bonnet. “The vocation of La Forêt has put us to the test, with its 45° inclination and its unusual exposure, but it is a challenge that has fully repaid us for the work of these last few years”.

At the helm of the domaine since 2019, Fabre immediately focused the work in the vineyard and in the cellar on the profound valorization of Les Riceys and its uniqueness, territorially and culturally between Champagne and Burgundy. The result is a range of wines that boasts three AOCs – Champagne, Coteaux Champenois and Rosé des Riceys – and tells the essence of the terroir of this pearl of the Côte des Bar, the largest (884 hectares) and southernmost of Champagne, today among the protagonists of the qualitative rebirth of the Aube.
