L’Ode au Meunier: Pannier presents two new parcel Champagnes

A true ode to Meunier: in name and in fact. It is the one that Champagne Pannier has chosen to declaim in the bottle with the last two new entries in the catalogue. To color the already rich offer of the Maison of Château-Thierry, two parcel Champagnes from the vineyards of Charly sur Marne and Venteuil have arrived. Cuvée 100% Meunier, as mentioned, the absolute protagonist grape variety in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, the two versions of L’Ode au Meunier tell in the glass a territory that has always been fundamental in shaping the style of Champagne Pannier.

The history of Champagne Pannier began in 1899 in Dizy, just outside Epernay, with Louis-Eugène Pannier. It is here that the first chapter of the saga is written, which tells of a savoir-faire that finds emblematic expression in a symbol: the archer. This is the one rediscovered inside the medieval cellars of the Maison in Château-Thierry, where he moved in 1937 finding what would become his home in a corner of France that has been able to enchant painters, writers and poets, like the ‘iconic Jean de la Fontaine.

Here, underground, lies one of Champagne’s most precious heritages: the labyrinth of 12th-century stone quarries that today make up the Champagne Pannier cellar. And it is on the walls of the place where the Maison’s bottles rest during aging on the yeasts that a medieval engraving portraying an archer was found, effectively carving on rock the motto that defines the style and values of Champagne Pannier: “Tendre à la perfection”, or striving for perfection.

The bond that unites the Maison of Château-Thierry with the Vallée de la Marne is reaffirmed by the mastery that it has developed over time over the use of the main grape variety of its area, the Meunier, which gives the Champagne a gourmand and fruity character without comparison. A variety that today is exalted through an ode in the bottle and in the glass that declaims the goodness of the fruits of two vineyards in Charly-sur-Marne and Venteuil.

The Ode au Meunier is the most recent creation signed by Champagne Pannier and tells of two parcel expressions that refine for a minimum of two years on the yeasts, after vinification in French oak barrels. Both dosed between 3 and 4 g/l, L’Ode au Meunier Charly sur Marne is clear and bright with a fine and persistent bubble. On the palate it is characterized by notes of yellow fruit, derived from the clay-limestone soil. Expressive and well structured, it is the perfect Champagne to accompany the meal.

The Ode au Meunier Venteuil, with its elegant gold colour, is instead the result of a chalky clay-limestone soil. On the palate it is floral, delicate and elegant. Well balanced, it is ideal as an aperitif.
