Nicolas Feuillatte celebrates the 2015 vintage in Champagne with its Grand Crus

The 2015 vintage celebrated in all its majesty: it is the choice of Nicolas Feuillatte, the number one Champagne Maison in France and third in the world, with the two Grand Crus Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs, labels shaped by the Chef de Caves, Guillaume Roffiaen, who reveal singular wines, but immediate thanks to their rarity and therefore capable of fascinating those who taste them.

“After 1976 and 2003, 2015 was the third warmest year since 1961,” says Nicolas Feuillatte’s Chef de Caves, Guillaume Roffiaen, focusing on the extraordinary nature of the 2015 vintage.

“From May to August there were three months of intense drought which marked the Champagne region with heat never recorded before, causing a slowdown in the development of the grape bunches. We witnessed heavy rains fall after mid-August accompanied, fortunately, by a sharp drop in temperatures which limited the risk of disease. In this way the bunches had the opportunity to grow and a harvest was carried out under strict supervision throughout the Denomination area, which allowed us to obtain potential grades and optimal ripening levels”.

The two Champagne Grand Crus celebrate the 2015 vintage in unison according to Nicolas Feuillatte.

The Blanc de Blancs 2015 Grand Cru Nicolas Feuillatte is an elegant and noble wine, composed exclusively of Chardonnay grapes. Its slender nature is given by the typicality and quality of the fertile soils and the vineyards planted in the clay, symbolic soil of the great wines of Champagne.

This bubble is very open to the sense of smell, giving persistent floral nuances, while the bark and liquorice stick are perceived in the mouth. The finish is thirst-quenching, with a minty freshness that invites tasting.

The Blanc de Noirs 2015 Grand Cru Nicolas Feuillatte is, however, a vigorous and full-bodied wine, composed exclusively of Pinot Noir grapes selected from the 100% classified Grand Crus in the Reims Mountain area. A bubble that draws its character from the soil: the balance and freshness of the northern region, on the one hand, and the delicate spiciness and minerality offered by the southern area, on the other.

On the nose you can immediately perceive the fruits of late summer, such as plum and Reine Claude plum, followed by hints of spices. Structured, this cuvée immediately surprises with its minerality in the mouth, followed by a series of pleasant aromas that caress the palate with notes of currant, cranberry berries and strawberry. The finish offers a refreshing and saline aromatic finesse.
