Numero Chiuso Lvnae: a Vermentino that defies time and becomes art

Numero Chiuso Lvnae was born from the desire of the Bosoni family to test their Vermentino dei Colli di Luni with the Time factor. Today, this white wine that defies time presents its special edition: 20 Jeroboam-sculptures, signed for this great premiere by Andrea Del Sere, designer and also author of the spaces of the new Lvnae winery.

The Vermentino born between ancient stones and sea wind

The wine is born between ancient rocks, ferrous clay, sandstone and a little sand. This soil, at about 350 meters above sea level, combined with optimal exposure and sea breezes, allows the right balance of root and leaf development, while the woods surrounding the plots favor a rich biodiversity that transmits a precise identity imprint.

“Studying the complexity that time brought to this variety in the best years, in 2008 we decided to vinify the berries of two of our historic plots differently. We were looking for the depth of an aging wine without losing the characteristics of freshness that distinguish the best expressions of a white wine,” says Diego Bosoni, fourth generation of the property.

Numero Chiuso Lvnae: balance between evolution and identity

“Today, at the 13th vintage, we can say that that intuition has revealed a precious and hidden aspect of Vermentino,” says the producer. “The bottles of Numero Chiuso produced so far demonstrate, in fact, that they have an interesting evolutionary perspective and at the same time are strongly rooted in the present”.

For this reason, from the 2021 vintage, a part of the already small print run of Numero Chiuso will be reserved for an even more special edition: 20 Jeroboam-sculptures, ambassadors of “this incredible balance between time and moment”.

The first edition of the Lvnae artistic project is signed by Andrea Del Sere, designer and also author of the spaces of the new Lvnae cellar, already bearer of an aesthetic language capable of recodifying the relationship between man, home and nature, going beyond its own function.

For Numero Chiuso Del Sere wrapped the 3-liter with a pattern of ribs inspired by a Vermentino vine leaf. From this design, a 3D polymer print was created, covered in bronze, in a galvanic bath, to which a dark patina was applied, then partially removed by hand. Each of the 20 Jeroboams is a unique piece and all are signed by the designer.

A sculpture for every vintage: a design that tells the story of time

From the next harvest, the Bosoni family will invite a designer to interpret the Time of Numero Chiuso in 3D and, every year, the n. 1 of these “giants” will be exhibited in the cellar, becoming an integral part of it, while the others will be destined for enthusiasts and collectors. “Design is an expressive language of our time, it photographs ideas and trends of an era… and Vermentino is one of these. We have the duty to give space to beauty and to be visionaries”, continues Diego Bosoni.

“This is why we have chosen design as a code to celebrate this grape variety that is profoundly contemporary: proud to live in the present and ready to challenge the future”.

The Vermentino of Numero Chiuso interprets the maximum expression of the company vision, but its message goes beyond: this variety is a Mediterranean excellence capable of dialoguing with the white grape varieties of the world, putting elegance, verticality, depth and aging potential in the glass.

Numero Chiuso: an Italian white that speaks to the world

Fruit of experience, passion and imagination, Numero Chiuso is a choice of courage and wine culture. It is a complex, satisfying and mineral wine, of great substance and authenticity and has demonstrated, for over a decade, that Vermentino is, in its own right, one of the protagonists of Italian white wine.
