The year 2026 for Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie will not be merely a year of consolidation. For the northeastern denomination, it is proving to be a moment of acceleration. Going beyond its already established international leadership on the variety, the Doc delle Venezie is redefining its positioning through a strategy that connects markets, system-wide coordination and major global visibility platforms, expanding its reach and strengthening its role as an ambassador of Italian wine worldwide. In this scenario, the partnership with the Giro d’Italia becomes a key milestone, following the denomination’s presence at major international trade fairs in the first half of the year, from Wine Paris to Vinitaly.
Doc delle Venezie: a first‑quarter overview
The first quarter of the year offers a complex yet positive picture for Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie. Participation in Wine Paris, Prowein and Vinitaly allowed the Consortium to engage with a global market in transformation — marked by geopolitical tensions and greater commercial complexity, but also by renewed confidence among operators. The message is clear: the system holds, adapts and evolves.
In Paris, Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie reaffirmed itself as a credible and recognizable interlocutor for the international trade, strengthening established relationships and opening new networks in an increasingly competitive environment oriented toward distinctive and reliable products. In Düsseldorf, the shift in paradigm was even more evident: the focus moved toward a more selective and highly qualified audience, highlighting how high‑value relationships and targeted connections are progressively replacing the quantitative dimension of trade fairs. This is where competitiveness is measured today.
The culminating moment was Vinitaly 2026, with over 90,000 attendees from 135 countries, where the denomination played a central role also in the city’s off‑site events, becoming the Official Wine of Vinitaly & The City. A symbolic step that reinforces the perception of Pinot Grigio as a symbol of contemporary Italian wine.

Internationalization: from volume to value
During the debate at Vinitaly, organized together with the Prosecco Doc Consortium, the theme of internationalization emerged as central. The U.S. market remains a strategic reference point, but no longer a given: today Italian wine must earn its space through more targeted, coordinated and value‑oriented strategies.
In this context, the Doc delle Venezie stands out as a model of interregional integration and as the expression of an organized supply chain capable of operating with a shared vision. As Italy’s leading still white wine for export, with over 40% of shipments directed to the United States, Pinot Grigio represents a clear example of how production scale and positioning can coexist without slipping into commoditization.
“The challenge is to avoid commoditization by focusing on identity, certified quality and the ability to act as a system,” emphasized Consortium president Luca Rigotti, reiterating the need for a shared strategy centred on value, identity and innovation.

The Giro d’Italia: a global platform for Italian wine
The most significant milestone of these first months of 2026 is the partnership with the Giro d’Italia, officially presented at Vinitaly. Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie becomes the Official Wine of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, the Giro d’Italia Women and the Giro Next Gen, within a three‑year project that marks a major step forward in the denomination’s positioning.
This choice follows a precise logic: using an iconic sports platform to build a contemporary narrative of Made in Italy. With hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide, the Giro d’Italia is a global communication tool capable of uniting territories, culture and quality production.
“The decision to launch this collaboration with the Giro d’Italia stems from full strategic coherence: it is an iconic platform capable of transforming a major sporting event into an authentic narrative of Italian excellence, territory and lifestyle,” explained Luca Rigotti. “For Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie, it means entering a narrative that connects sport and well‑being, community and food‑and‑wine culture, strengthening our positioning not only in terms of visibility but above all in identity and international reputation.”
The partnership also translates into concrete visibility elements, such as the branded magnum bottle used during podium ceremonies, and into a widespread narrative along the entire race route, which becomes a traveling showcase of Italian excellence.
System, territory and vision: a 2026 that sets a direction for Doc delle Venezie
At the foundation of this journey lies a production model unique in scale and structure. With 27,000 hectares, over 230 million bottles and a supply chain of more than 6,000 growers, the Doc delle Venezie today represents 85% of Italian Pinot Grigio and 43% of global production.
Numbers alone, however, do not explain the success of a system whose strength lies in its ability to operate as a network, uniting Veneto, Friuli‑Venezia Giulia and Trentino in an interregional model capable of expressing territorial identity and production reliability on a global scale.
The balance of the first months of 2026 thus portrays a denomination fully aware of its role and future challenges. No longer just volume, but value. Not only presence, but narrative. It is on this balance that the future of Pinot Grigio Doc delle Venezie will be built — increasingly oriented toward a recognizable and distinctive identity in the global wine landscape.
