The Brunello Vigna i Poggi 2019 and the symbolic Poggio Antico wines available at La Place de Bordeaux

In the fourth year since its entry onto La Place de Bordeaux, Poggio Antico is widely represented throughout the world, without constraints or borders and has the possibility, with the release of the 2019 vintage, to build a solid vintage library, as well as to concentrate on promotion in the various markets through numerous activities that will allow enthusiasts to get to know the new vintages of its most representative wines.

Brunello, Rosso, Riserva and the single vineyard Vigna i Poggi are labels expressing the company’s production philosophy which, from the beginning of 2024, has concretized the “change of pace” on which the whole team has carefully worked in recent years, with the release of the first vintage of the new cru.

As Pier Giuseppe D’Alessandro, general director, explains, “this single vineyard aims to represent the highest expression of Brunello that we can produce. It is available in limited quantities, around 7,000 bottles, and will be intended for a few enthusiasts. Being the inaugural vintage, the first step will be to make this wine known to those who want to experience the uniqueness of the company and want to understand how far our Sangiovese can go.”

The strategy of the historic reality of Montalcino

However, the Montalcino company does not want to focus exclusively on La Place de Bordeaux. “The other reference countries on a commercial level are equally important”, continues Riccardo Bogi, Sales & Marketing Manager, “Italy, for example, plays a key role for us and it will be very important above all to open the doors of the company and create a relationship of trust with sommeliers and Horeca professionals. At the same time, it will be essential to focus on markets such as the United States and Canada, where Brunello is a denomination with an excellent positioning and consumers are looking for quality, excellence, personality and identity style”.

“The evolution of Poggio Antico and the orientation towards uncompromising excellence are not only realized in the release of Vigna i Poggi, but also in the investment by the property in the creation of the new cellar designed by the architect Marco Casamonti, the whose project was officially presented at the beginning of March and the laying of the first stone is expected no earlier than 2025″, highlights Alessio Sostegni, winemaker of Poggio Antico. “Aimed at enhancing a landscape already extremely rich in biodiversity, the new winery will develop in depth and aims to be a work of contemplation of the environment in which it will be born”.

“Traveling the path of excellence without compromise is therefore the objective that we have set ourselves for the next few years and which we aspire to achieve, strengthened by our extremely favorable position and, above all, by the team of professionals who give their all every single day” , concludes Pier Giuseppe D’Alessandro.
