Ruffino makes executive changes: Sandro Sartor moves to external relations, Simon Towns takes the helm

Ruffino introduces a renewed executive structure to support long‑term global growth and strengthen its commitment to Tuscan wine excellence.

Ruffino announces a major leadership change. As of January 1, Sandro Sartor — who has led the company since 2011, first as CEO and later as President — has taken on the role of President of External Relations. In this capacity, he will represent the company in institutional affairs, protection consortia, trade associations, the specialized press, and among key industry stakeholders. At the same time, Simon Towns, International Managing Director at Constellation Brands and already a member of the Board of Directors, is moving into a more direct leadership role at Ruffino, ensuring strategic continuity and further strengthening the company’s path of international growth and development.

In his new position, Sartor will continue to serve as spokesperson and ambassador for Ruffino’s values, quality, and identity, while also maintaining his role as President of Wine in Moderation, the Brussels‑based association promoting a culture of responsible and mindful wine consumption.

“In 2027, Ruffino will celebrate its 150th anniversary,” Sartor said. “I am deeply honoured to be part of this extraordinary story and to continue contributing to the future of such a unique company.”

Ruffino: a Tuscan company with a global horizon

Founded in 1877 in Pontassieve by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, the company today operates seven estates across Tuscany’s main appellations and two in Veneto, producing renowned red, white, and sparkling wines, and distributing its portfolio in more than 80 countries.

In 2023, it launched an important transformation plan aimed at consolidating its role as a benchmark for great Tuscan wines, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and innovation rooted in its Tuscan identity.

The new executive structure aligns with this long-term vision, with the goal of strengthening Ruffino’s positioning as a global reference point for Italian winemaking excellence.
