The Rosso family began cultivating their vineyards in 1890. In the 1980s Giovanni Rosso began to renovate the vineyards and produce his own wine. In 2001, his son Davide Rosso, after having studied oenology and further developed his skills in the cellars of Burgundy, took over the reins of the company.

Today Giovanni Rosso is a small family-run company, certified sustainable and awarded multiple awards by industry critics, known worldwide as one of the best producers of Barolo di Serralunga d’Alba.

Giovanni Rosso’s plots are found in historic crus such as Serra, Broglio, Damiano and Vignarionda, each of which is cited in archival documents dating back to 1694, as well as Cerretta and Sorano. Plot 251 of the legendary Vignarionda cru has been owned by the Canale Rosso family since 1934 and preserves old vines from 1946, used for the production of the award-winning Barolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso. The maison’s goal has always been to create the best wines representative of its terroir.

After founding, developing and expanding the Giovanni Rosso company, Davide Rosso and his mother Ester Canale Rosso achieved great success and recognition worldwide. Always enthusiastic about challenges and eager to test their values of innovation and excellence, Giovanni Rosso has expanded, looking to Sicily, where they now produce the highest quality wines from the Etna region.
