Caviro changes face. New strategic structure for the largest winery in Italy, which reorganizes its wine division with the aim of enhancing every single production reality that makes up its portfolio. The renewed strategy will now see, on one hand, Cantine Caviro, or all the brands that are the maximum expression of the wine-growing members, from North to South, starting from Tavernello – a complete synthesis of the Caviro supply chain – up to the territorial specificities such as Feudo Apuliano, Vigneti Romio or Fatascià; on the other, the new chapter of Tenute Caviro opens which, to date, outlines the territories of Chianti and Valpolicella where the Group boasts owned companies, such as Leonardo Da Vinci Spa and Cesari Spa. The Premium hub is thus strengthened with the appointment of Giovanni Lai who adds to the leadership of the historic Veronese reality that of the Tuscan company as the new general manager.
“This new structure is aimed at strengthening the synergy between the various companies of the Group and the people who work there, giving a strong and distinctive identity to the two souls of Caviro”, explains Giampaolo Bassetti, general manager of Gruppo Caviro.
“On the one hand, Cantine Caviro, which will continue on its path of consolidation, on the other, the new Tenute Division. The further step towards integrating the commercial proposal throughout the world, in which we have been investing for years, and the choice to entrust Giovanni Lai with the strategic management of this new asset goes precisely in this direction”.

The Tenute Caviro project: Leonardo Da Vinci and Cesari join forces
The Tenute Caviro project is taking shape, with Giovanni Lai, already at the helm of Cesari, at the helm, who also takes on the role of general manager of Leonardo Da Vinci – known for the production of wines that embrace a wide range of denominations such as Chianti – thus becoming the point of reference for the division, with the mission of bringing the two companies together in a single hub.
The initiative sees its commercial strength in distribution on the national territory through the company owned by dalle Vigne and the unified export sales network under the guidance of Luisa Bortolotto, foreign sales director.
“I welcomed with great enthusiasm the Group’s desire to place me at the helm of Tenute Caviro with the aim of enhancing the businesses rooted in the most suitable wine-growing areas of Italy, also enhancing them through the targeted offer of hospitality”, comments Giovanni Lai, general manager of Cesari and Leonardo Da Vinci. “In addition to our current presence in Veneto and Tuscany, we are also looking with interest at other areas where our members produce, to strengthen and develop to the maximum the quality that each individual area can express”.
