As happened yesterday in Milan, on the occasion of the presentation of the calendar of celebrations which over the next 12 months will illuminate the territory and the productions of this corner of Friuli-Venezia Giulia”.
“This is an important milestone that we are reaching, which also reminds us that the Collio DOC was the first denomination in Friuli-Venezia Giulia,” explained the president of the Collio Wine Protection Consortium, David Buzzinelli.
“Our Consortium is among the oldest in Italy. And the DOC was born a few years later, in 1968. We are proud of our wine heritage, which we want to continue to protect and promote while respecting the tradition that distinguishes us. The anniversary we are celebrating this year tells of the evolution and growth of a unique territory, capable of giving life to very high quality wines appreciated and loved all over the world.”
The great celebration of May 31st : the first 60 years of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio
An important year for the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio, which celebrates 60 years since its foundation. The birth dates back, in fact, to 31st May 1964, the date on which the notarial deed of incorporation was signed. Exactly 60 years later, on May 31st, 2024, an exclusive event will be held, which will involve, among others, some of the historical protagonists of the Denomination and will celebrate this important milestone of commitment and valorization of viticulture and the Collio territory.
For the occasion, the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio has designed and created a logo dedicated to the 60th anniversary and an institutional label that will accompany the activities of 2024.
The event on May 31st will in fact be preceded by a busy calendar of tastings, institutional presentations and meetings dedicated to the anniversary, which will involve the press, sector operators and wine lovers from the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region and the national territory, but also followed, on June 1st from the awards ceremony of the 17th edition of the Collio Prize, which returns after the break in the Covid years. A relaunch of the recognition dedicated to Count Douglas Attems, one of the fathers of the DOC, which will reward the scientific and informative insights that have brought prestige and turned the spotlight on the territory and its wines.
Later in the year, the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio will be the protagonist of other events and masterclasses abroad, from the United Kingdom to the USA, of the consolidated appointment with Collio Day, of press tours with Italian and international journalists who will deepen their knowledge of the wines and the Collio area, and of an event on the occasion of Vinitaly in Verona.
“It is a year, 2024, in which we want to properly celebrate the anniversary of the Collio Doc”, concluded the director of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio, Lavinia Zamaro. “May 31st, in memory of the founding act of our union, will be the fulcrum of 12 months of celebrations with a major event in the area which will highlight the evolution of the Collio wine culture over the last 60 years”.
