The Two Faces of Amarone Pasqua Vini Conquer New York

The US market is increasingly at the centre of Pasqua Vini’s strategies, as demonstrated by the event held on 16 September at New York Vintners, which saw the participation of Alessandro Pasqua, president of Pasqua USA, and Master of Wine Christy Canterbury. At the centre of the event was Amarone della Valpolicella Docg: the denomination’s flagship wine was on display in an exclusive masterclass wearing the Famiglia Pasqua and Mai Dire Mai labels, the dual interpretation of the king among the Veneto reds from the Veronese winery. The backdrop was the location chosen for the occasion, which tells of a new intersection between the world of wine and that of art and design, in perfect Pasqua Vini style.

The event held on 16 September is part of Pasqua Vini’s rich calendar of events in the United States, which began on 5 September with the “Great Wines of Italy” event, organised by the famous wine critic James Suckling in New York. The event continued on September 10 with the “Sip of Italy” event organized by Wine Enthusiast, again in New York. The company’s presence overseas will now be further strengthened by participation in the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival Grand Tasting 2024, organized by Wine Spectator, which will be held from December 12 to 15 in Palm Beach.

Pasqua Vini Masterclass in New York with Master of Wine Christy Canterbury

On Monday, September 16, the Verona-based Pasqua Vini winery hosted an exclusive masterclass in New York, dedicated to the in-depth story of Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG.

The event was hosted by Alessandro Pasqua, President of Pasqua USA and third-generation member of the Pasqua family, together with the esteemed Master of Wine Christy Canterbury. Held in the Art Studio inside the New York Vintners winery, the event highlighted the company’s commitment to combining the world of wine with that of art and design, promoting creativity through innovative collaborations.

“The masterclass was a unique opportunity to tell the story of two distinct but complementary expressions of Amarone della Valpolicella, of which Pasqua Vini is one of the leading interpreters in Italy,” explains Alessandro Pasqua, President of Pasqua USA. “Each wine embodies the innovative spirit of our family and the rich heritage of the winery, conveying the excellence of the Valpolicella wine region.”

Alessandro Pasqua, together with Christy Canterbury MW, led the participants in the exploration of two distinct expressions of Amarone della Valpolicella: the traditional style expressed by the Famiglia Pasqua line and the innovative one of the Mai Dire Mai line.

Famiglia Pasqua e Mai Dire Mai: The Two Faces of Amarone

Amarone Famiglia Pasqua are created using classic production methods, assembling grapes from different plots in the Valpantena area. These wines offer an enveloping and balanced profile, with hints of spice and chocolate that derive from barrel aging.

On the other hand, the Mai Dire Mai line embodies a more modern expression of Amarone. Made using only grapes from a single plot of the Montevegro vineyard, characterized by soil rich in limestone, these wines are known for their austerity, verticality, freshness and herbaceous notes, which reveal all the longevity potential of the particular terroir of the vineyard.

During the tasting, Alessandro Pasqua and Christy Canterbury presented the following wines:

  • Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella Docg
  • Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2015
  • Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2013
  • Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2012
  • Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Docg
  • Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2019
  • Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2018
  • Famiglia Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Docg 2017

The masterclass demonstrated Pasqua Vini’s unique ability to combine respect for tradition with a commitment to continuous innovation: the company has been able to perfectly integrate these two elements into its vision, combining its century-old history with pioneering investments in viticulture.
