Few wines in the world can stand the test of time like Amarone. And that’s exactly the idea behind two new projects from Tommasi Family Estates, rooted for four generations in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, in Pedemonte di Valpolicella (Verona). The first is the Family Library, a collector’s box set bringing together three vintages of Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Docg kept in the family cellar. The second is the Tommasi Amarone 2017 Special Edition, a limited release that celebrates the first decade of a classic through an unexpected language: music. Both arrive in October 2026, in 100 sets and 1,000 bottles respectively. Two projects, then, with one shared belief: the greatness of Amarone is measured over time. Giancarlo Tommasi, Technical Director and Chief Winemaker of the group, explains:
“Amarone is the wine that represents Valpolicella around the world and carries with it a responsibility: to demonstrate that its greatness is measured over time. Opening our cellar and presenting vintages that have had time to evolve means affirming a principle our family has believed in for more than a century: a great wine should not be judged only when it is released, but by its ability to transform while remaining true to itself. These bottles are the most authentic proof of the quality of our wines, the work carried out in the vineyard, and the dedication that Amarone requires in the cellar. With the Family Library and the Special Edition, we want to share this heritage and tell its story to a new audience.”
Family Library: a Decade of Amarone in Three Chapters
The Family Library tells the story of Amarone the way you’d tell a family story: chapter by chapter. Designed for wine lovers, the box brings together three vintages released five years apart: 2012, 2017 and 2022. The result is a vertical tasting that spans a whole decade. It shows how the same wine, born from the same vineyards, changes over time. The 2022 appears as a preview, a young Amarone that keeps all the energy of its fruit. The 2017, instead, captures the moment of full maturity. Finally, the 2012 reveals the depth and complexity that only long bottle ageing can deliver. The Family Library will be available from October 2026 in a limited edition of 100 sets.
But there’s more. For restaurants and wine merchants, Tommasi has created a dedicated version that looks even further back: 2009, 2012 and 2017. With these three vintages, sommeliers and wine professionals can offer their guests a rare tasting experience, one that is increasingly hard to recreate outside the winery where the wines were made.

Amarone 2017 Special Edition: a Classic, Ten Years in the Making
Meanwhile, the 2017 vintage returns in a special guise. After all, some wines behave like great songs: they travel through the years, mature and reveal new nuances with every listen. From this idea comes the Tommasi Amarone 2017 Special Edition, a tribute to the first decade of Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Docg 2017. Its claim, “A Classic, Ten Years in the Making”, sums up the spirit perfectly. The contemporary gift box takes its cue from the look of music platforms. Inside, a postcard tells the story of the vintage, suggests food pairings and shares the winemaker’s tasting notes. As Giancarlo Tommasi continues:
“The 2017 vintage is now experiencing a moment of full expression: the fruit has evolved into deeper notes, the structure has become elegant and the tannins velvety. This is why we invite wine lovers to rediscover it not only through taste, but also through fresh eyes and ears.”

A Playlist in the Glass and a Bottle with Your Name
So how does the music come in? A QR code leads to an original Spotify playlist, curated by Matilde Davoli for Sudestudio. The tracks, released between 2017 and today, follow a chronological order. Each one was chosen to mirror the defining traits of this Amarone: a warm, elegant sensory appeal, strong personality and sophistication. Together, they guide the tasting through four moments: Opening, Tasting, Sharing and Celebrating.
The journey kicks off with “Motion Sickness” by Phoebe Bridgers, released in 2017. From there, it spans a decade of pop, electronic and indie influences, with artists such as Jungle, Jessie Ware, Little Simz, David Byrne and The Strokes. Two tracks also carry the studio’s own signature: “Gallipoli” by Beirut and “Calma Cara” by Selton, both recorded at Sudestudio.
On top of that, two exclusive reinterpretations of the iconic Tommasi Amarone label, plus the option to personalise the bottle with a name, turn each one into a unique collector’s item. Perfect as a gift or a keepsake. The Special Edition comes in a limited run of 1,000 bottles, available from October 2026 while stocks last. You’ll find it at leading wine merchants, at the Tommasi wine shop and on tommasiwinehospitality.com.
