A new entry from the heart of Chianti Classico, 100% Sangiovese, quintessence of biodiverse viticulture, but also the fruit of a careful selection of the highest vineyard: Vecchie Terre di Montefili presents Vigna nel Bosco Igt Toscana 2019, a limited edition of only 2,412 bottles and 108 magnums, “the result of an intense commitment to sustainable viticulture practices that respect our land”, explains Serena Gusmeri, oenologist and agronomist of Vecchie Terre di Montefili.

The new Vigna nel Bosco Igt Toscana 2019: Vecchie Terre di Montefili gives away a new limited edition 100% Sangiovese from its highest vineyard
Vecchie Terre di Montefili is part of the first Italian organic district and the company headquarters is located on Monte Fili, at 540 meters above sea level, which also includes the Additional Geographic Unit of Montefioralle in the center of Chianti Classico.
Vigna nel Bosco Igt Toscana 2019 is a limited edition, made entirely with Sangiovese grapes, a careful selection of the highest vineyard of the company, located on the top of Monte Fili next to the forest.

The vines grow on pietraforte soils, a calcareous sandstone, cultivated using the Guyot system. This wine expresses the maximum expression of the terroir of Vecchie Terre di Montefili, with its low-intervention vinification and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
“Vigna nel Bosco is a clear example of how respectful agricultural practices can not only improve the quality of the final product but also protect the ecosystem in which we operate,” continues Serena Gusmeri. “In this sense, the recent Diversity Ark certification, recently obtained by Vecchie Terre di Montefili, represents a fundamental step in our sustainability journey, which integrates perfectly with the production philosophy of Vigna nel Bosco. This recognition highlights the company’s commitment to preserving the fauna and flora biodiversity of its lands. Obtaining this certification reflects the philosophy of holistic agriculture that guarantees the health of the soil and vines, a fundamental pillar in the production of high-quality wines.”
The Vigna nel Bosco 2019, previewed at Vinitaly 2024, has already attracted the interest of experts and enthusiasts, consolidating itself as a premium choice for collectors and wine lovers, thanks to its rich sensory profile and its aging potential.
The 26-month refinement in 20 hl barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle reveals a rich and complex structure, with aromas of ripe red cherries, cranberries, apricots, and intriguing nuances of nutmeg, ginger and dried plums.
A wine capable of marrying magnificently with dishes rich in intense flavors. Ideal with roast red meats, such as lamb or game, it enhances the spicy notes and depth of the dish. It is also a perfect companion for mature cheeses, where the delicate tannins of the wine balance the richness of the cheese.
