Vinitaly 2025 on stage with its first preview in Brussels. A meeting organized by VeronaFiere at the Italian Embassy in Belgium, in view of the 57th International Wine and Spirits Exhibition in Verona from 6 to 9 April. “In this complicated moment we must protect the Italian product and the exports of national wines. For this reason I will meet the European Commissioner for Trade Maroš Šefčovič and I will insist that Italian production and therefore the export of our quality products also on the American market can be protected. We will also fight, and I want to reiterate this to all wine producers, also in New York at the World Health Organization to try to win the same battle that we won here in Brussels. Because we are absolutely convinced that wine is not harmful, on the contrary, wine is good for you if consumed in moderation”. These are the words of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, who spoke at the event.
Vinitaly 2025: the hot topics of the mission to Brussels
The aim of the Vinitaly 2025 initiative in the meeting with the institutions in Brussels – carried out in collaboration with the ICE Agency and the support of the Italia del Vino Consortium – was to represent the socio-economic and cultural centrality of wine as an identity product of Europe and Italy in particular and to support the political pressure and the sector associations committed to preserving it from the new protectionist pressures of massive health campaigns.
Vinitaly 2025 will host two European Commissioners: Christophe Hansen, Commissioner for Agriculture, and Olivér Várhelyi, Commissioner for Health. A presence that testifies to a change in approach by Europe, with a more balanced dialogue on the wine sector.
“We returned to Brussels once again alongside representatives and political decision-makers for a preview that highlighted the aggregating role of Vinitaly,” said the President of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo. “An agora of Italian wine and a global commercial hub for a flagship product capable of generating an overall economic contribution of over 45 billion euros per year and an added value of 17.4 billion euros, equal to 1.1% of our GDP.”
