Aminta officially joins the Famiglia Cecchi’s winemaking universe. The Castelnuovo dell’Abate estate, purchased in 2018 in one of Montalcino’s most prestigious areas, next to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, is ready to debut its first two labels: the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and the 2023 Rosso di Montalcino DOC. Famiglia Cecchi is strengthening its commitment to promoting Sangiovese in its chosen terroirs, taking an anticipated but not a foregone conclusion: the move toward Montalcino.

Famiglia Cecchi officially announces the entry of Aminta into its winemaking universe with the debut of the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and the 2023 Rosso di Montalcino DOC, its first two labels.
The arrival in Montalcino was a thoughtful decision, made with respect and awareness, the fruit of extensive experience gained over 130 years of history.
Founded in 1893 and now led by Andrea Cecchi, the fourth generation, the company has always stood out for its pioneering vision, rooted in family values and focused on quality, sustainability, and profound respect for the territory. These are the traits that will also characterize the adventure in Montalcino.
“With Aminta, we wanted to complete a journey that has always tied us to Sangiovese, a grape variety we consider central to our production identity,” explains Andrea Cecchi, president and CEO of Famiglia Cecchi. “Entering Montalcino was the result of a careful decision, developed over time, which led us to invest in a territory of extraordinary complexity and prestige. Aminta was born from this vision: to enhance Italy’s great terroirs with wines deeply rooted in their origins, essential in style, and designed to last.”
The Aminta estate extends for hectares in the southeastern area of the Brunello di Montalcino district. The vineyards are divided into three distinct blocks — Pian Bossolino, Cantina, and Caselle — and enjoy particularly favorable soil and climate conditions thanks to their altitude, exposure, and the natural protection offered by Mount Amiata. The soil geology is heterogeneous, with the presence of galestro, pietraforte, and Messinian sands, elements that contribute to producing wines of great precision and character.
The project is named Aminta in homage to two roots. The first is personal: Anita, Andrea Cecchi’s mother, a strong and inspiring figure for generations, who passed away in 2017, to whom the family symbolically dedicated this new adventure. The second is territorial: Monte Amiata, a majestic natural boundary that dominates the landscape and decisively influences the estate’s microclimate, providing ideal temperature ranges and preserving the vineyards’ vegetative balance.
These coordinates are joined by a third reference, cultural and poetic: Torquato Tasso’s famous work, L’Aminta, in which the presence of a spring recurs as a pivotal point, just like the natural thermal spring found at the edge of the estate’s forest.
After years of quiet and meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar, Aminta is ready to make its mark. The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino will be produced in just 3,000 numbered bottles, alongside a limited edition of magnums. The 2023 Rosso di Montalcino will be available in 3,100 bottles, along with a special limited-quantity magnum format. Both labels were developed inspired by the original drawings of Anita Sardelli, mother of Andrea Cecchi, a key figure in the third generation and the artistic soul of the family. The release is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025, during the Benvenuto Brunello event.
Aminta therefore represents not only the family’s latest acquisition, but also a synthesis of a corporate identity that continues to evolve without betraying its roots. After Villa Cerna, Val delle Rose, Tenuta Alzatura, and Villa Rosa, the presence in Montalcino confirms the desire to interpret the great terroirs of Italian wine with a coherent, informed, and passionate voice.
