Soave DOC: +3% Bottled in 2025, Stock Levels Down (‑8%)

The new year opens on a positive note for the Soave DOC, which closes 2025 with +3% more bottled wine compared to the same period in the previous year. A result made even more significant given the downturn affecting the Italian wine sector overall, reinforcing Soave’s image as a fresh, low‑alcohol white wine increasingly appreciated in global markets.

Soave Identity and Yield Management: Stocks Continue to Decline (‑8% vs 2024, ‑7.9% vs 2023)

Alongside bottled growth, the denomination reports a ‑8% reduction in stock levels compared to 2024, a year that had already shown a ‑7.9% decrease vs 2023.

This steady and progressive trend is the result of “Identità Soave”, a project launched two years ago by the Soave Consortium to make the DOC more modern and competitive while ensuring quality and territorial distinctiveness.

Measures adopted include:

  • suspension of vineyard registration (rivendica) for new plantings established after 31 July 2023
  • rivendica block for the 2023 and 2024 seasons
  • +30% increase in Siquria inspections on maximum yield compliance

These actions help manage the natural vigor of Garganega, the key variety of Soave, ensuring a wine that is true to its identity and better expresses vineyard and terroir.

Soave DOC: A Fresh and Sustainable White Wine

The Identità Soave project is not just a positioning strategy but also an ethical and sustainable choice.

Smartly moderating vineyard productivity means reducing the energy footprint across the entire supply chain, from vineyard to cellar, starting with water use.

Consumers benefit from a Soave DOC that reflects rigorous quality controls and careful selection, aligned with global trends that reward fresh, terroir‑driven, lower‑alcohol white wines.

“Today’s results are highly significant and reward the collective strategy adopted by the Soave Consortium for a virtuous and competitive management of the denomination,” notes Cristian Ridolfi, President of the Consortium.

“The commitment required of producers is delivering concrete results, and the growth in bottled wine is the first proof. We know we are on the right path, even in one of the most complex economic scenarios of the past 50 years. Global trends also favor our denomination, as they reward fresh white wines with moderate alcohol content.”
