There is a clear shift taking place in the world of Cartizze, and it revolves around one key word: essentiality. With the launch of the new Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Docg Extra Brut, Val d’Oca signs an interpretation that breaks with the cru’s traditionally softer style to open up to a tenser, more vertical, and contemporary vision. Born from the 2025 harvest and produced in a limited edition of 3,990 numbered bottles, the new Cartizze Extra Brut represents the culmination of a journey that began in 2019 with the first experiments on drier dosage levels within the denomination. A project that today finds full expression in the Heritage line, strengthening the valorization of the territory through a new stylistic grammar.

The shift is already evident in the numbers: less than 2 grams per liter of residual sugar. A choice that radically changes the profile of Cartizze, bringing it toward greater varietal and territorial clarity.

“The opening of the production regulations to drier dosages has allowed us, since 2019, to work on Extra Brut interpretations of Valdobbiadene DOCG, starting with the Rive di Santo Stefano,” notes Stefano Gava, general manager of Val d’Oca. “With Cartizze we wanted to take a further step, enhancing certain parcels of our members’ vineyards that are particularly suited to delivering a more contemporary expression of the cru, centered on minerality and precision.”

The wine comes from vineyards located between 230 and 320 meters above sea level, on complex soils of clay, sandstone, and quartzite. A pedological base that translates into a strong mineral imprint and evident gustatory tension, supported by meticulous winemaking, particularly in the management of fermentations and the prise de mousse.

In the glass, the profile is clear: bright straw yellow, fine and persistent perlage, floral aromas of wisteria and white flowers accompanied by pear, green apple, and light citrus notes. On the palate, a slender, vertical structure emerges, with vibrant acidity and a savory, clean finish.

Packaging as an extension of the cru

The contemporary nature of the project also extends to the packaging, conceived as an integral part of the narrative. The label uses mineral pigments, natural powders, and earth‑derived resins, with a surface made from pulverized stones sourced directly from the Cartizze sub‑zone.

A tactile element that brings the territory onto the bottle, reinforced by a Symbiosis® capsule made of paper and aluminum, capable of reducing the carbon footprint by 30% compared to traditional solutions. The design, slender and with embossed details, recalls the altimetry of the Valdobbiadene hills, translating the landscape into form.

Val d’Oca and Champagne Encry: a partnership for the premium segment

The launch of the new Cartizze Extra Brut fits into a broader strategy of strengthening the upper tier of sparkling wines, which finds a significant parallel in the new partnership with Champagne Encry.

Val d’Oca becomes the exclusive distributor for Italy of the Grand Cru Maison from the Côte des Blancs, marking the beginning of a long‑term collaboration aimed at consolidating premium positioning.

“The partnership with Champagne Encry stems from a shared vision and a common focus on quality, identity, and long‑term value creation,” explains Stefano Gava, general manager of Val d’Oca. “We are proud to have been chosen as exclusive partner for Italy, with the goal of building a long‑term project together with a Grand Cru Maison with limited production and strengthening our positioning in the premium segment.”

A clear strategic vision also emerges from the French Maison. “After nine years of consolidated presence on the Italian market, we are entering a new phase of our evolution,” comment Enrico Baldin and Nadia Nicoli from the Maison. “Choosing Val d’Oca as our commercial partner represents a forward‑looking step, based on energy, structure, and investment capacity, in full respect of our identity and exclusive positioning in the high‑end Horeca channel.”

A new Cartizze for a new narrative of sparkling wines

The new Cartizze Extra Brut and the partnership with Champagne Encry thus converge in a single direction: redefining Val d’Oca’s positioning in the world of high‑end sparkling wines.

On one hand, a reinterpretation of the most iconic cru of Prosecco Superiore in a drier, more precise, and more territorial key. On the other, an opening toward an international dimension through a strongly identity‑driven Champagne Maison.

Two complementary movements that tell a clear strategy: building value today means working on the depth of the territory and the ability to engage with the new languages of contemporary wine.
