Maia Wine is now fully acquired by Cielo e Terra

Cielo e Terra S.p.A. acquires 100% of Maia Wine. Angelo Lella sells his stake and announces a new project debuting in Cannes.

Cielo e Terra S.p.A. acquires 100% of Maia Wine. Angelo Lella, entrepreneur and creative from Verona, has announced the sale of his 50% stake to the Vicenza‑based wine group, which thus becomes the sole owner of the brand. The transaction represents the natural conclusion of a path that began in 2021, when Cielo e Terra entered the company’s capital, supporting its growth and consolidation. Founded in 2020, Maia Wine has established itself in just a few years as one of the most recognizable projects in the landscape of contemporary Italian sparkling wine.

Maia Wine: from project to structured brand in the soft‑luxury segment

Born in premium Horeca contexts and international events, Maia Wine gradually evolved its model, building a stable presence in Italian large‑scale retail across the country and in major foreign markets. The transition from project to fully distributed brand followed a clear line, focused on positioning rather than chasing volumes.

A pioneer of the soft‑luxury segment, Maia Wine developed a model capable of uniting product, design and experience, helping redefine the role of Italian sparkling wines in a contemporary key.

From 2020 to today, the brand has been a constant presence in major international contexts, participating for several consecutive editions in the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Maia Wine has also developed collaborations with global players in the automotive and fashion sectors, strengthening its visibility in iconic events such as the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in Verona.

In 2022, it received the award for best packaging at Vinitaly thanks to a limited edition created for Signorvino, further confirming the work carried out on brand value and visual identity.

The vision of Angelo Lella and the role of Cielo e Terra

At the heart of the brand’s success lies the synergy between the brand vision developed by Angelo Lella and the industrial know‑how of Cielo e Terra S.p.A., supported by the commercial drive led by Pierpaolo Cielo and the sales direction of Marco Vicentini. A balance that today delivers to the market a brand with widespread distribution in Italy and strong international recognition.

Commenting on the transaction, Angelo Lella stated:

“We worked on a clear idea: bringing the Metodo Italiano to a positioning that until then had been the prerogative of Champagne, building brand value rather than chasing volumes. Maia Wine was born with this vision and in just a few years has helped redefine the role of Italian sparkling wines, proving that the Metodo Charmat can also express a premium, contemporary and international language. Today we leave a structured, distributed brand with a clear direction.”

A cycle closes and a new trajectory begins

Maia Wine will continue its journey under the guidance of Cielo e Terra S.p.A., relying on a consolidated production and distribution structure at international level. For Angelo Lella, the sale marks the beginning of a new entrepreneurial phase.

Lella added:

“I leave the brand in excellent hands, within a solid company like Cielo e Terra S.p.A., led by Pierpaolo Cielo with a modern and international vision. In the coming months we will carry forward collaborations with important players in the wine world, and, on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival, we will present a new metodo classico label. The goal remains the same: continuing to work on building brand value rather than chasing volumes.”

With the sale of his stake, Angelo Lella closes an entrepreneurial cycle, leaving behind a brand now distributed nationally and internationally. At the same time, he opens a new phase aimed at once again redefining the relationship between wine, experience and contemporary lifestyle, starting with a new project that will debut at the next Cannes Film Festival.
