Sella & Mosca’s Tintas line expands with two new labels that strengthen the project of expressing Sardinia’s identity through wine and colour. Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Doc and Rujas Alghero Cagnulari Doc now join the collection, two wines that broaden the chromatic and oenological palette of a line created to translate the island’s light, texture and contrasts into a visual language. With Tintas, Sella & Mosca has built over the years a recognisable aesthetic, capable of uniting design and territorial expression, making colour an integral part of the wine’s narrative.
Founded in Alghero in 1899 and part of the Terra Moretti group since 2016, Sella & Mosca is one of the most significant players in today’s Italian wine landscape. With 520 hectares of vineyards in a single estate, it is a true wine village where production, hospitality and local life coexist in a unique identity. The Tintas line was created in collaboration with Carolina Melis, one of Sardinia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, already involved in the chromatic restyling of the winery and the Sella & Mosca village. Her visual interpretation makes colour a central element of the project’s identity, reinforcing the dialogue between wine, art and territory.
Sella & Mosca: Tintas as an identity project linking wine, art and territory
Tintas was conceived as a true collection, designed to tell the story of Sardinia in an immediate, sensory way. The project is rooted in the daily work of the men and women in the vineyards and the cellar, transforming the energy of nature, agricultural expertise and Sella & Mosca’s tradition into wines that speak of place, people and history.
The wines in the line represent the estate’s most identity‑driven expressions, combining continuity with tradition and a constant pursuit of excellence. Tintas becomes an homage not only to the island, but also to Sella & Mosca itself, its community and its production vision.
Terre Rare: Carignano del Sulcis joins Tintas
With the 2025 vintage, Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Doc officially enters the Tintas line through a restyling that renews its image and strengthens its visual identity. This step marks a natural evolution for a wine that reflects Sella & Mosca’s presence in Sulcis, one of Sardinia’s most characterful and textural territories.
The chromatic choice for Terre Rare recalls earth, clay and zenithal light, in harmony with the wine’s name and the Mediterranean strength of its landscape. A colour that becomes a key to interpreting the full, sun‑driven character of Carignano del Sulcis.
Rujas: Alghero’s Cagnulari between intensity and nuance
Alongside Terre Rare, Rujas Alghero Cagnulari Doc joins the collection, produced from a few hectares of Cagnulari adjacent to the Alghero estate. The wine is the result of a project overseen by Sella & Mosca’s team of winemakers, selected for its territorial and stylistic coherence with the company’s vision.
Rujas adopts a shade suspended between pink, red and violet—an evocative chromatic choice recalling wild berries, velvet and dawn, reflecting the intense and multifaceted personality of Cagnulari. Here too, colour becomes a narrative tool, anticipating through design what the wine expresses in the glass.
Sella & Mosca: Tintas as a chromatic grammar that tells the story of the island
With the addition of Terre Rare and Rujas alongside Vermentino Cala Reale, Rosato Anemone and Cannonau Medeus, the Tintas line expands its range and strengthens its connection with territories and grape varieties that express Sardinia’s diversity.
The project is built on a chromatic grammar inspired by the island’s colours—from golden beaches to deep skies, from Mediterranean scrub to vineyards. The labels, characterised by irregular and spontaneous brushstrokes, evoke the world of art and craftsmanship, portraying a Sardinia that is imperfect, vibrant and dynamic.
