A change in governance, a prestigious international recognition and an ambitious investment plan: Freccianera is approaching the milestone of 100 years of history by inaugurating a new phase of development that looks to the future without losing its connection to its roots. The historic winery in Borgonato di Corte Franca has appointed Nicola Berlucchi as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and is preparing for the 2027 Centenary, supported by a growth path driven by quality, family continuity and a strategy aimed at consolidating its positioning in the premium segment.
Nicola Berlucchi takes up the family’s baton
The Shareholders’ Meeting has entrusted Nicola Berlucchi with the chairmanship of the Board of Directors, marking an important step in the company’s history. The appointment comes after the passing of Pia Donata Berlucchi, a figure who led the company and contributed decisively to its growth and to strengthening the brand.
In the new Board of Directors, Tilli Rizzo Berlucchi, Alessandro Berlucchi, Federica Berlucchi, Antonio Lorenzotti and Raimondo Boggia have been confirmed, while attorney Vittorio Roscini Vitali joins the board. A team that accompanies the transition to the fourth generation of the Berlucchi family, owners of the Franciacorta winery since 1927.
The Best in Show that projects Freccianera among the world’s greats
The renewal of the governance coincides with one of the most prestigious results ever achieved by the company.
Freccianera Franciacorta Satèn Millesimato 2022 has in fact won the Best in Show recognition at the Decanter World Wine Awards, entering among the 50 best wines in the world and standing as the only Italian sparkling wine awarded with this highest distinction.
A success that certifies a path built on the enhancement of estate vineyards, on enological specialization and on a recognizable style founded on elegance and balance.
One of the last historic Franciacorta wineries still in the hands of the founding family
Founded by Antonio Berlucchi, Freccianera represents a unique reality in the Franciacorta landscape.
The company is indeed one of the very few wineries in the denomination to have always remained under the control of the founding family. Moreover, it is among the founding members of the Franciacorta Consortium and produces exclusively Franciacorta wines obtained from grapes coming from its own vineyards.
The 65 hectares of vineyards are managed directly by the company, with manual harvesting of the grapes and vinification carried out inside the historic winery in Borgonato di Corte Franca.

Freccianera: production growth and investments ahead of 2027
The Centenary represents much more than a symbolic anniversary. To support this journey, Freccianera launched in 2025 an important investment plan that includes the complete renovation of the winery, the expansion of production capacity and new logistics facilities powered by renewable energy sources.
The goal is to increase annual production from the current 400,000 bottles to 600,000 bottles, while simultaneously increasing storage capacity to 1.8 million bottles.
The project is also supported by a €1.5 million minibond fully subscribed by UniCredit.
Today Freccianera exceeds €4 million in turnover and continues to strengthen its presence both in the Horeca channel and in the main European markets. Among these, the United Kingdom stands out, where the growth recorded in recent years confirms the increasing international appreciation for the style and quality of the Franciacorta winery.
Freccianera’s Centenary as a platform for the future
2027 will be a key year in Freccianera’s history. In addition to completing the winery expansion project, the company will promote a calendar of initiatives dedicated to its history, to the culture of Franciacorta and to the territory.
Alongside celebratory events, activities aimed at the trade, hospitality and international markets are planned, with the goal of further strengthening the brand’s positioning in the premium segment.
Between family continuity, strategic investments and international recognitions, Freccianera thus approaches the appointment with its Centenary as one of the most solid and identity-driven realities of Franciacorta, ready to face the future without giving up the values that have built its history.
