The Story of Amarone Takes Flight Across the Atlantic: Famiglie Storiche Heads to TexSom and San Francisco

Famiglie Storiche torna negli Stati Uniti con due eventi tra Texas e California per raccontare l’Amarone contemporaneo.

This August, Famiglie Storiche is strengthening its international presence with a double appointment in the United States, between Texas and California, designed to engage with sommeliers, buyers and wine professionals. The association, which brings together thirteen historic wineries of Valpolicella, will first take centre stage at TexSom in Irving on 23 and 24 August, with Amarone-focused walk-around tastings and a luncheon reserved for participants of the Summer Camp. It will then travel to San Francisco on 26 August for a day at the Fairmont Hotel, featuring a masterclass moderated by Paul Wagner and an extensive walk-around tasting.

These two events aim to strengthen the position of contemporary Amarone in one of the most strategic markets for Italian wine.

As President Luca Speri explains:

“The United States has always represented a fundamental market for Amarone and for the wineries within our association. Through high-profile events such as TexSom and the San Francisco masterclass, we want to continue engaging with wine professionals, sharing not only our wines but also the culture, history and heritage of knowledge that make Valpolicella unique.”

Amarone Takes Centre Stage at TexSom with Famiglie Storiche

Famiglie Storiche’s American journey begins in Texas, where the association will participate in TexSom on 23 and 24 August, one of the most respected educational wine events in the United States.

The thirteen wineries will present their interpretations of Amarone through a series of walk-around tastings dedicated to attending sommeliers, creating a direct opportunity for discussion, exploration and professional exchange.

In addition, on 23 August, a luncheon will be held for participants in the TexSom Summer Camp, offering a further opportunity to introduce wine professionals to the culture of Valpolicella and the production philosophy of Famiglie Storiche.

Through ongoing dialogue and focused tastings, the association aims to strengthen knowledge and understanding of Amarone within a highly qualified professional environment.

San Francisco Welcomes Valpolicella

Following the Texas event, the programme will continue in California.

On 26 August, within the prestigious setting of the Fairmont Hotel San Francisco, Famiglie Storiche will lead a full day dedicated to Valpolicella.

At the heart of the programme will be a masterclass moderated by Paul Wagner, one of the most respected wine educators and communicators in the United States.

The masterclass will be followed by a walk-around tasting for industry professionals, offering a comprehensive overview of the different expressions of Amarone and the work carried out by the thirteen member wineries.

Through tastings and educational moments, the association intends to communicate the identity of contemporary Amarone, a central theme of its ongoing activities.

A Strategic Opportunity for Amarone in the United States

The two American events represent a significant opportunity to consolidate the association’s presence in the United States, a key market for Amarone and for the wineries of Valpolicella.

Through meetings, tastings and direct interaction, industry professionals will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the production philosophy of Famiglie Storiche, an association committed to promoting and enhancing one of Italy’s most important fine wines.
